Product Description

I was working as a nobody in a major film (see bio for info), and this idea popped into my head in my hotel room one night when I was trying to sleep. I had been writing more comedy lately, and someone asked why there weren't more “funny fantasy stories”. We could think of Piers Anthony and Robert Sheckley, and not many others … so here's one of my own. Enjoy.

About the Author

You can all watch me die in “Master and Commander” - I was the guy with the neck wound after the first French attack, being dragged away by my feet. That was my full-time job when this piece was written, down at Fox Baja Studios in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. As for writing, I've had about 300 short stories, poems and articles printed since 1986, including a crazy spoof story in Analog, other works in Space & Time, Dreams & Nightmares, and many more. I have been writing mostly comedy and horror short films lately. So when I do sit down to write fiction, just about anything can come out.

...but the writing is extremely well-done, cogent, and highly prosaic. I was right with Orton when they'd had him backed up to...

...well, I plum won't say because others might wish to have a little look-see on their own-some, and don't need my spoiling "help."

I'm going to have a squizz to see if some other Shorts are available from you up here. I'd be more than pleased to read some of your other stuff. I'm good for a review or three.

Loved Master & Commander, but can't recall that scene from the beginning -- if it was a death sequence, let it be a bold and mighty death, I say!

Themes I'd learned from reading The Goblin Saint:

** Greek was a lingua franca for a very long period of time, perhaps even outdating the longevity of Latin. (The corresponding question I had was whether modern-day Greek in any way resembles ancient Greek...pray tell?)

** Goblins do some pretty *nasty* things with their bodies that I'm not quite sure HOW you know about...but sure glad to know what they *can* do. The next time I come across one...

** Who is the originator of the goblin myth? Where were these creatures first cited, and when did they disappear? Why have I only heard about them in reference to things like Dungeons and Dragons? Or even in films like Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe? Ideas?

And so on, and so forth...

You've certainly earned your four stars, chum, for the quality of your writing. Have you got anything more full-length I might perhaps be able to look at?

Adam in Prague.

p.s. great line from the story: "...a sputtering nasty dry heave of a language." <--- you had me hooked the instant I read spun charms like this one. Kudos, brother!
