I got the demo shipped and immediately started composing. For years, I have been having ideas of large orchestral pieces and attempted to write them using Finale and Sibelius and have failed to complete one. As a graduate from music school, I have been upset with myself for not allowing myself the time or patience to sit at a computer and write a piece of music.

Then came Notion! Even with the limited abilities of the demo software, I started writing with ease. And the sound of my music was instantly played back for immediate reference to the part I was writing. I decided to change a few things as I was writing and it was so easy to edit. I decided that all of my string parts should come in with a different feel, so I just quickly changed them all to Staccato and listened back. Perfect! Notion you are terrific! I can't wait to start spending my evenings composing again and getting results fast!

Sadly, no such luck for me. I've spent HOURS with customer service (which, by the way, is ONLY available during work hours!!) to no avail. Guess that's a few hundred dollars down the drain.

Don't buy this program.

This software looks pretty neat. If I ever get to use it I might find something to like in it, but the authorization scheme has me locked out. I cannot believe that any post-2000 software company would be stupid enough to design a system that will allow a customer who has paid many hundreds of dollars to be denied the use of his purchase.

I guess I'm supposed to contact customer support to get them to fix whatever is broken, but like most people who can afford this software, I work a day job, which means I can't sit in front of my computer at home while someone figures out how screwed I am.

Yes, I'm feeling really ripped off right now. Authorization code registration can be really easy, but these guys insist on linking through their website to collect a ton of personal information on you before you can begin using the product. You want my household yearly income? It's LESS now that I have to take a day off to fix this thing. Your website tells me I'm registered but the software is stuck on "Connecting to Server". Bravo!

On top of that, it looks like I'll lose everything I've composed if my drive dies since this software is apparently chained to one disk. If I had known what a pain this package would be I would have bought that "other" notational software.

One star for you Notion!!! I hope you learn to trust your customers.

UPDATE: So I took some time off work to talk with customer support. Poor guy sounded like he had dealt with a few other aggravated customers. After some non-specific answers about how their servers were having problems he sent me an email with a code to unlock the program. I'm in *finally*.

Now that I've used it for a while, it's really quite a good app. Easy to use, fairly intuitive, sounds pretty good. Three stars now and working upward, but you Notion guys still need to come up with a simple registration scheme.
