I was looking for a lightweight dog house for our basset hound. But the hard plastic ones seemed to retain the sun's heat. As I searched the internet I saw the dog tent - this idea seemed more favorable and versatile. We only needed something as a wind break and dry lounge area since our dog lounges outside but does not stay outside. And I wanted one that would have plenty of ventilation. The Instent Dog Haus was perfect for our basset hound and the perfect size, and has plenty of ventilation. The washable flannel pad that comes with it is very nice. It is easy to move around, assemble and unassemble. We put her round dog bed in it and the tent does not blow around (so we do not have the bottom outside pockets weighted with anything or staked). For us the tent is a dry lounge and wind break for her - she stays with us at night. To keep the night's dampness out for the next day - I just zip up the windows and door and it's dry and ready for her in the morning. Our basset hound enjoys it and so do we. One day I even set it up inside our house.

After removing the Dog Haus "Tent" from its shipping container, I had it set-up in about 45 seconds. Although no instructions are included, it's a no brainer to set-up. Just pull up on the two cords coming out of its top opening/closing/locking mechanism and it simply unfolds like an umbrella and locks into position. Break-down takes a little longer... maybe 2 - 3 minutes. This is due to the fact that you should tuck the tents material towards the inner frame before folding it away. (Just like it takes longer to put an umbrella properly away than it takes to open one). The only thing I must mention is that the stated height of the tent of 32" - 33" is the inside dimension. The opening/closing/locking mechanism adds approx. 5 " to its overall height bringing its total to 37" - 38". We have a Bernese Mountain Dog and she was inside the "Haus" within 2 minutes checking it out and claimed it as her own soon after. The tent is VERY roomy, even for a very large breed dog like ours.

This dog crate is awesome! Very light-weight and roomy and VERY easy to set up and take down. The loops for holding the vent flaps up are simple to open and close. It did take me a bit to figure out I needed to roll up the shade and then take the button that was under the shade and button it through the loop above the shade, but once I saw how it was done, I had no problem opening and closing the vents. Both my dogs like it and choose it over my regular crates. Unfortunately my other dog still paws to get out or get attention so he can't be in a soft crate, but for well-behaved dogs this crate is perfect.
