1.0 out of 5 stars Really bad Power Supply, May 17, 2007
By Shankar Roy "Gadget Freak" (San Francisco,CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bought the CoolMax V-500 500 Watt 120MM Serial ATA Power Supply With Silent Fan with the idea of getting a low noise power supply. The thing turned out to be a bad product. It fried one of my motherboards. Literally smoke came out of the board and the motherboard was hosed. When I tried it with a Core 2 Duo it was even unable to power the board. I would strongly suggest against buying it.

1.0 out of 5 stars not good!, April 11, 2007
Bought this as an upgrade to a 300watt in a media center machine. Almost immediately after installing it, the machine would randomly shut off... not shut down... just off. You had to reset the supply and it would sometimes work for days, sometimes for seconds. Not sure if this is just a bad unit, or why it was so cheap.

1.0 out of 5 stars totally junk and extreamly bad customer service, May 24, 2007
This thing stopped working within 5 weeks, then called CoolMax customer service for the waranty, sent in the fried PSU, 4 weeks later get a letter saying the PSU was out of warranty because inproper use. called them again, they still refuse to honor their warranty saying that it is my right to sue them if I feel I should get the replacement. Never ever had such bad experiences with any vendor. Later found out Coolmax is a taiwan junk company coming to US to sell cheap low-quality products, they have big problems to hornor their warranty and rebates, etc. You can find it out from BBB.org to see how many complains they got. avoid them.
