The gemstone pendant comes in different stone pendants like amethyst pendant, coral pendant, peridot pendant, garnet pendant, onyx pendant, citrix pendant etc. Indian gemstone pendants are based on Mughal designs prevalent in the sixteenth century. The closed setting techniques used in these pendants is about four hundred years old and may have come from Persia. The stones commonly used in Mughal style Indian jewelry are generally irregular in outline and asymmetrically faceted. The stone is set in place in the lac filled hollow unit of the pendant, over a piece of metallic foil.
