Product Description

Product Description

Uses Mono-Crystalline silicon solar cells, with 2 Watt/220mA output. Need 3-4 hours to fully charge optional AAA batteries in a sunny day. It has built-in battery cabin where you can charge 5 AAA batteries (not included), and therefore can serve as a battery charger & emergency power source. The charger has a flashing (charging) green indicator, and battery full red indicator. There are three types of Solar Cells on the market. All our solar chargers use the best - Mono-Crystalline Solar Cells. Amorphous or Dual Junction Solar Glass are the cheapest but are only 7% energy efficient and have a 5 year service life. They are big and heavy. Poly-Crystalline have 25 or more years of service life under direct sunlight and are 13% efficient. Mono-Crystalline have 25 or more years of service life and are up to 20% efficient. This is the same type use in solar car racing or the solar airplane. This type of solar cells is now in worldwide shortage because only a few companies can manufacture this solar cells. This mini-charger is using the best Siemens mono-crystalline solar cells. It is currently in worldwide shortage and it is getting more expensive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too old, May 27, 2008
I bet this thing works great due to the hefty title, but all the adapters are for older phones, or at least don't work with mine. I have a walkman 580i and a Samsung sgh a737 and neither will work, because there are no adapters. No iPod adapter either. I checked radio shacks website, and emailed them, and said they had no such adapters, so I don't know why it says you can purchase them there. I have tried the batteries, which appears to work great.
