Here in Skunk Holler, the wind does blow. And when the wind blows, dirt, dust, grime, and other unpleasantries become airborn; inevitably, on a windy day, I often feel like half an acre of dust has been deposited in my ears. That's why I always (count 'em, always) have an ample supply of the ever-ubiquitous Q-TIPS COTTON SWABS.

I know, I know: Everyone from the manufacturer to your Aunt Sally sternly warns not to clean your ears with the Q-Tips. But come on, we all do it. And I don't penetrate deep inside the ear (nor would I recommend it), but instead apply gently to the opening, as well as along all the curves on the outer ear. The little swab at the end of the stick picks up a lot of dirt, which makes me feel a whole lot better.

But these little critters are handy for so much more. Case in point: I'll dip a swab in some rubbing alcohol, then go to town on a keyboard. The swab scrubs in between the keys ever so easily, and you'll be amazed how much gunk you'll be able to lift out. Q-TIPS COTTON SWABS. Handy for you, handy for cleaning. Talk to the hand. . .
