We enjoyed this movie enough to buy it!
Belle is a pleasant beautiful squeaky clean type who never says anything bad about anyone and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. Eric's character is played pretty smoothly and gets better as his character is developed. He plays a convincing grouch and would be enough to run most any patient woman off. But, you guessed it... This is a Beauty and the Beast story afterall.
If you are looking for something that you dare to watch with your kids this is it. My teenaged son says it was not a chick flick because it was not annoying. Hmmm... I'll have to analyze that one further.
There is a wet kiss at the end giving it the warning for mild thematic elements.
Likely not a main stream movie... But, for those of us who are looking for a sweet timeless romance it fits the bill.

I bought this movie at a local Christian bookstore a few days ago and watched it the same day. This is a modern-day version of Beauty and the Beast. It's different because the "Beast" isn't a hairy creature and doesn't wear a cape as portrayed in the Disney and CBS TV series counterparts, but he still appeared to be rude and grouchy at the beginning. Believe it or not, I was crying a lot because I saw the mysterious man's heart softening after Belle continued her effort to find out why he acted mean and restoring his relationship with God. I agree with another viewer that this is not really a chick-flick, but the wet kissing scene at the end might be a bit much for children to see. Good movie to see with no worries of any foul language.

This is a sweet story for the gentle soul. No violence, no swearing, no sexual themes. Has an inspirational theme of religion but not overpowering or condescending.
