Product Description

"Freeze the brass off a bald monkey!" my dad would say on chilly mornings. "Freeze the balls off a brass monkey!" he'd say in the winters deep-freeze. I thought of this as blue-collar meteorology.

About the Author

Always the observer, Bosworth has spent a lifetime with the notion he is on the outside looking in. Everything gets noticed and noted, very little escapes. In his mid-twenties, searching for a creative release, Bosworth entered a short story/play he wrote and staged into a competition, which took him to New York City. While competing, the work was seen by George Nolan, then Director of the New York Academy of Theatre Arts. As fate would have it, a scholarship to NYATA was granted. The scholarship, and all the boundless expression the stage allows, found him just in the nick of time, catching him quite by surprise. Thus began a thirty year love affair with theatre. So sit back, put your feet up, pull the box of Junior Mints® a bit closer. The show is about to begin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-fiction Lovers Must-Read !!!, June 11, 2007
I totally enjoyed this chapter. This tale of a young boy basically losing his father to a tragic, crippling accident is touching; yet the boy copes by remembering the humorous phrases of his dad and a connection/bonding to Red Sox baseball.

His descriptions of his New England, dilapidated, year-round summer house and family life in which he was raised has my curiosity.

I can't stop now. I want more!

5.0 out of 5 stars food for the heart, June 10, 2007
By Michael Firewalker (Puyallup, WA United States) - See all my reviews
Greatly enjoyed this mult-layered, richly nuanced, family tale of a foundry-worker's life in the infamous fifties. The author's comedic skills are not to be taken lightly, but all through his rollicking ride through blue-collar glory, there runs a deep and powerfully moving Father/son love that speaks much louder than any of the truly excellent jest-and-joust. Another treat from Frank Bosworth that shouldn't be missed!
