1.0 out of 5 stars Not a bargain, even if it's free., January 4, 2008
Kensington sent me one of these to replace a defective Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Car Charger for iPod I had bought for my wife. The digital display on the original unit was missing segments, making it unreadable. You can tune it by ear and it works fine. Since that model has been discontinued, Kensington told me to keep it and not send it back. That, believe it or not, was a blessing.

This is hardly an improvement over "everyone's favorite Digital FM transmitter". No matter how I dress the cable (straight, coiled, loose on the floor), the sound is marred by annoying background hiss on even the quietest FM frequencies. When the sun goes down, it only gets worse. The original white model performs much better, so even with the defective display, I'm using it instead of this one, and Cathy's using another with a good display.

Snap up the original model while you can. Kensington discontinued the wrong version and replaced it with something a lot worse.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worthless -- Doesn't Work, December 27, 2007
Avoid this product at all costs. We have now tried this thing on two different iPods (Mini and Nano) and it works horribly for both. We have also tried this in two different cars. The problem? The signal is very faint no matter what FM channel you try. In order to get it to work, you have to stretch out the cable and hold it over your head. When it does work, the sound volume is so low that the music is unlistenable. Even adjusting the volume on the iPod has no effect. I have tried multiple FM stations and have had no luck. These are the same stations that work fine for a Sirius radio I have that broadcasts over FM. Stay away from this product at all costs. It simply just doesn't work. We will be returning the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Consider another product, December 26, 2007
I agree with the other reviewer regarding comments on the volume. With the iTouch volume at nearly full scale both quality and volume through the car radio were inadequate. In addition, the interface cable serves as the transmitting antenna for the FM channel the LiquidFM is set to, and is very susceptible to noise, interference and nearby electrical fields in the cabin. This is a very disappointing product and is nearly worthless as a method of integrating your iPod into your car's sound system. Tried this product in three vehicles with the same results. Save your money and look to a manufacturer other than Kensington for your solution.
