5.0 out of 5 stars The best-sounding things I've ever wedged into my ears, April 23, 2008
By s a d (detroit, mi) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sennheiser MX 660 Black Earbuds with Volume Control and Cable Winder (Black) (Electronics)
I hate earbuds. Problem is, for the sake of being discreet while breaking the rules, I can't wear my full-size cans at work. If I want to Rokk with Dokken while on the job, I have to use earbuds. The ones that came with my Sansa worked quite well for a while, but they recently returned to the planet. I've had good experiences with Sennheiser products (and bad experiences with other brands - most notably ones with four-letter names which start with S and end with Y), so I tried these.

I know earbuds of this type aren't supposed to sound as good as other alternatives, such as those earplug-type things with the built-in silicone lint collectors, but these sound GREAT-- even better than the Skullcandy earplugs I tried before ("the best thing next to Bose!" according to the genius at TestBuy). Nice, clear highs, mids that aren't a bit muddy or overdriven, and remarkable bass for the tiny little things they are.

The cord's nice and long, but the included "cord winder" is basically just a rectangular chunk of rubber to wrap the cord around. The storage pouch is nice though, and the volume control is handy when someone decides to start asking me dumb questions while I'm trying to work. The included foam pads are nice too, because I can't stand putting bare pieces of plastic in my ears. They're a bit difficult to stretch onto the buds though, as the holes in the pads are ridiculously tiny.

Like the HD-280's I use at home, these are another Sennheiser product I'm very happy to have bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars Answer to my volume problerms, January 21, 2009

I'm a distance runner and won't go out the door without my iPod. A lot of my tunes are individual songs and the volume from song to song is all over the map. These earbuds, with the volume control on the cord, are so much better than trying to deal with the click wheel through the iPod armband. I can actually adjust the volume without stopping. I hightly recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good earbuds, better than the MX500 they replace, April 29, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sennheiser MX 660 Black Earbuds with Volume Control and Cable Winder (Black) (Electronics)
These are a decent replacement for my old MX500 earbuds, with much better bass and a little better high-end. They are a little pricey, but I think they are worth it, especially since I like how Senn earbuds conform with my ears.

They get only four stars from me because of the annoying (but essential) pads that you have to install yourself, and the fact that they don't give you any spares. I actually ripped one of the pads while installing them, and had to shop around to find a fitting replacement. I didn't mind doing this with my old MX500s, because they were much easier to install, but this could really be improved.
