About the Author
Born and raised in Beardstown, IL, Scott William Foley attended Illinois State University and graduated in 1999. After teaching in North Carolina for two years, he eventually moved back to Normal, IL, where he teaches literature and composition while writing and enjoying life with his wife. His first collection of short stories called The Imagination's Provocation: Volume I was released in January of 2005. This collection includes science fiction, slice-of-life family vignettes, horror, fantasy, action/adventure, and inspirational stories. Most of the stories were originally released by Foley's first publisher, Pete Moore, owner and operator of www.bloomingtonnormal.com. Foley attended book signings for The Imagination's Provocation: Volume I at the Beardstown Houston Memorial Library, the Bloomington High School Library, and the Bloomington Barnes and Noble. He's appeared on Star 107.7, and ICN-Channel 5, as well as in the Daily Vidette, the Cass County Star-Gazette, and the Pantagraph talking about this collection and promoting local book signings. In June of 2005, Foley released his first novel, Souls Triumphant. Initially written in 2000, the release of this book marked a true watershed moment in his life. In conjunction with the novel, Foley attended a book signing held at the Bloomington Barnes and Noble and appeared on WJBC's The Drive to help promote the event. One of Foley's proudest moments occurred when Mr. Randy Reichert taught Souls Triumphant alongside Fitzgerald and Faulkner in his course, The Novel, through Lincoln Land Community College. Drawing heavily from Christian theology and John Milton's Paradise Lost, Souls Triumphant is the story of Joe and Alessandra, two recent college graduates who meet on the street and fall in love at first sight. However, when they discover they are reincarnated servants of the Kingdom and that the mutinous Ned and his faction of monstrous demons want Joe dead and Alessandra to bear Ned's child, an adventure ensues in which the very fate of the planet and the heavens hang in the balance. It is a story of action, intrigue, romance, fantasy, and faith. In August of 2006, Scott William Foley released his second short story collection aptly entitled The Imagination's Provocation: Volume II. Although immensely different in genre, tone, and setting, Foley's stories deal with that which we all have in common: our humanity. He brings us stories of love, regret, loss, hope, fear, and redemption. From the vastness of space to a lonely church pew, Foley's tales will provoke your imagination in ways inconceivable! October of 2007 proved a gargantuan month for Scott William Foley! A local periodical called 60 Plus News & Views hired Foley as its monthly short story writer. Another local Bloomington-Normal publication, Town and City Magazine, offered Foley a home for his short stories as well. Finally, Foley was accepted into the Amazon Shorts Program, and on October 31 of 2007, the first of his serialized series featuring Dr. Nekros, a ghost hunter pursuing the demon who disfigured him while trying to ditch his ex-wife, was released with Dr. Nekros: The Tragedian. Scott William Foley continues to write all manners of short fiction, nonfiction, and is working on several other projects, including a novel and a novella. As always, he is immensely appreciative of all the support he's been given from the people of Central Illinois, as well as the rest of the nation, and truly hopes he makes them proud.
