This ep is fantastic. A lot of it really feels Ben Folds Five-y, especially "Protection," and as much as we support Mr. Folds, we all know BF was better with the extra F.

Also, the opener, "In Between Days" reminds me so much of the song "50 Special" by an italian group named Luna Pop. Check that out, too. Hopefully the price will go down soon!

EP's are rarely as completely strong as this one; there are virtually no wasted moments on /Speed Graphic/. There's something for the Ben Folds fan in everyone here: quirky weirdness ("Dog"), /Reinhold Messner/-esque melodrama ("Protection"), driving piano pop ("In Between Days"), and the best damn ballads Ben has ever put out in "Wandering" and "Give Judy My Notice." That the latter is going to end up on the upcoming /Songs for Silverman/ is a testament to its strength; its beautiful melody is the highlight of this entire EP collection.

If you have the money, I'd strongly suggest picking up all three of the 2004 EP's (/Sunny 16/ and /Super D/ are the others), but if you only have the money for one, /Speed Graphic/ is the EP of choice.

I've purchased Ben Folds' music in a very non-linear order. I've had Supersunnyspeedgraphic for sometime now which has a number of the tunes available on the Speed Graphic EP. The tune "Protection" is not on Supersunnyspeedgraphic. I recently heard it and just had to have it afterwards so I bought the EP. Wandering is another tune not on Supersunnyspeedgraphic which is a nice tune...albeit a slow more ballad like tune. I like it too but I mainly made the purchase for the tune "Protection".

Why pay upwards of 40 dollars for this EP and the other two, when you can get them off iTunes for under 5?

the cure cover is the best, but all the songs are great. i also recommend his other two EPs, sunny 16 and super d. they're all wonderful

Great variety and rewarding lyrics. A good companion to Songs for Silverman. I like this version of "Judy" much better.

Otherwise, "In Between Days" is OK. Nice ballad version of "Give Judy My Notice". "Dog" is clever in both piano playing and lyrics.
