Can you say Crisco?????????, January 12, 2009
Olive medium skin tone/normal to dry skin, age 49, have used sunscreen on my face all my life, and I have no wrinkles, except for a few around my eyes. -1/4 of a teaspoon applied to face.
It is thick and creamy and it feels like pure grease on your face and doesn't sink in or go away, once you apply it. Nothing but grease, I don't care if your skin is, as dry as the Sierra Desert, your face is still going to be greasy.
I didn't wear this on the beach or for outdoor activities, so I can't tell you if this will protect you from getting burned. I tried wearing this for 4 days straight on my face with some powder over it, as a daily wear sunscreen, and now I know that it wasn't made for daily wear, because your skin can't breathe. Plus, it is waterproof, and you should not wear waterproof sunscreen on a daily basis, you will compromise your skin barrier.
I have normal to dry skin, and no matter how little I put on, it gives a shine, and you can see if from the moon, allllllll day long. Even with putting a powder over it, it still shows a greasy shine! Seems like the sun would be drawn to it, since it stays on my face with a shine. You can rub all day long and it is still pure grease.
It does have a light, nice smell, which is not offensive, and disappears after a few minutes. If you happen to touch your face, your coming back with greasy fingers, even if you barely touch it, it's coming off, even after applying powder on it. My husband touched my face, while kissing me, and went geez, what are you wearing! I cannot imagine wearing this in the summertime, it would just melt on my face.
Goes on smooth, nearly invisible, great ingredients, I had no reactions from it whatsoever, and it didn't clog my pores. I just can't get over the oiliness of it all. It states it's waterproof, but if you barely touch your face, you have fingertips full of oil! If someone touched your face, their hands would be sliding off.
Easy to remove, I wipe with a baby wipe, and then use my ordinary cleanser, my face is not dry at all, after removing it. I guess with all the oils and all, it moisturizes all day, you do not and cannot use another moisturizer with this, it is just too greasy. It does not stay on well, even though it states it does. Dirt and debris sticks to it, look at your cloth when removing it, it will show you the dirt, and airborne dust, that clung to your face all day.
Yes, I squeezed it, kneaded it, and I followed directions, and it still was greasy, as Crisco! I used a 1/4 of a teaspoon, as recommended, by skin care professionals, and it's greasssssssssy. Now if I barely put any on, then it's not so greasy, but it was still greasy on my face and neck. But what is the point of barely putting any on, or wearing any at all, if you don't use the proper amount.
I put it on my hands and arms, and it makes a wonderful moisturizer, and that is what I now use it for, but even on my arms and hands, it is greasy, I had my arm on a piece of paper, while sitting at my desk, and the paper came up with my arm, and upon removing the paper, you could see the oils on the paper! I just cannot wear it on my face, and the expense of it, I just cannot throw it in the trash. Plus, if you are in the car, it is going to leave a residue on the places, that your skin touches, it looks whitish on my door, and my steering wheel was greasy, I had it on my arms, and you could see where, my arm had touched the door.
After researching sunscreens, I shouldn't be wearing this as a daily sunscreen anyways, because it is waterproof. From the scientific journals and other readings, you shouldn't wear a waterproof sunscreen on your face everyday, it causes the skin barrier to degrade. News to me!
I really wanted to love this sunscreen, it has some great ingredients in it, not loaded with chemicals, doesn't leave you dried out and chalky looking, (it shouldn't with all the oils in it,) but it left me a greasy, globby mess, plus everything else, I touched. I will not purchase it again.
Back to my old daily moisturizing sunscreen that, I have used for over 30 years AND For the beach and outdoor activities, back to Blue Lizard, it's greasy too, but not like this!
