I purchased EC stacking rings for my newborn, and although my husband thought the main stem to be a strange shape, baby loved the variety of colors and textures, each ring makes a different sound (jingle, crackle, rattle). At 2 mos. my baby responded to the musical tune, ring sounds, and textures; by 3 mos. the soft rings helped develop grasping skills, he could remove each ring, clasp it, then put his arm through the ring's hole, collecting each ring in turn. Rings are good for teething too! Although he won't be stacking rings until 9 mos., the patterns fascinate him and all parts seem safe to chew, soft padded fabric. Well worth the price, great for parents' interaction with baby or independent play. We also like EC chimes & mirror/teether.
