fun game, even better once modified, June 20, 2009

This is a great "travel" Monopoly game. The one remark I want to make though, is that there are probably too many "money" cards and not enough "rent" cards. In other words, the money supply seems to far exceed the money demand in this game.
So, what you normally end up with, are the losers of this game finishing with a ton of money in their banks because they never had to pay out much -- not very realistic to have losers who are very wealthy.
To fix this problem, buy two of these games and take all the "rent" cards out of one game and add them to your other game. This will make money a more valuable resource since the increased # of "rent" cards will present a larger danger to each player's bank.
This will also have the effect of rewarding players who lay down property cards so that they can collect rent from them -- the whole reason that you want to own property (and play the game of Monopoly) in the first place, right?
I also think this increases strategy somewhat because it puts you at a decision between using your property to collect valuable money or hoarding the property in your hand to keep it protected. As the game is now, it's pretty much a no-brainer that, of the three types of cards, the property card is the last type you want to lay down (unless you have very powerful action card).

Monopoly Deal card game...one word ADDICTING, March 17, 2009
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
We have been playing this game for almost 2 months, we are on our 4th deck if that tells ya anything. You can play several games so it goes much faster paced then the traditional board game and its much more fun and great brain stimulation..haha! Its basically a strategical game but dont let that hold you back because if you love the board game you will love this card game even more. It definitly brings a challenge to the table. We have introduced this game to others and they are addicted as well. It is sooooo much fun. I am not poker or ueker player as everyone else i know that is and this game finally includes me in and makes me feel as good as a player as them all they no longer wanna play any other games that is great news for me as i no longer wait hanging in the background wishing they play a game i would enjoy.
So if your looking for a fun family/friend game this is it. Now only plays up to five players in which we have found takes apprx 45 min to play w/5 people, apprx 35 min w/4, apprx 15-25 minutes w/3 people and apprx 5-15 minutes w/2 people ..so as you can see we play alot and it dont take long to play, we've gotten pretty good to get the game going quick, the directions are not hard to figure out may seem too much at 1st they are pretty simple and not too complex and you will come to find questions aobut this and that. Just follow the directions, play about the 1st 4-5 games as beginners letting all see cards in your hand to figure it out. Then all play on your own, its easy to get the hang of it even for kids. There are some things we've pretty much had to set some rules of our own because the rules are not complex, which is no big deal it just comes down to common sense.
This is the best game ever and it can get frustrating because u can be so close to winning as the game can be taken out from under you by one card but its just a game. We have gone as far as marking down the winner of each hand and when the night is thru the person with most wins is the champ. We are about to gather all of our friends who we've gotten addicted to the game and have a tournment which will be so fun i cannot wait! What shall be the prize? A new deck of Monopoly Deal of course! haha! Try it out its real inexpensive for such a fun and challenging game, it really brings the family together and the kids will be be asking to play all the time as family time is well needed for families these days. Oh my you may be begging for some1 to play you and if they are already into the game wont take much to get em to play. My husband is very smart and has wonderful luck in winning almost anything plus hates to lose and its wonderful to see him flabergasted when i or the kids get the win..haha!!

Fun overall concept... once you figure it out, January 18, 2009

Since our family loves Monopoly we thought this could be a fun new take on an old standby. While the rules were confusing at first, once we got the hang of things we have really enjoyed it. Be warned that the rules are actually much simpler than you expect them to be - which causes some confusion as you get going. Whereas the object in the traditional board game is to get as much money as you can and bankrupt your opponents, the only object here is to be the first to get three full sets of properties.
Here are the basic rules for those considering a purchase. Each player starts with 5 cards. On your turn you draw 2 more cards. Then you can play up to 3 cards by either putting money or action cards into a personal bank, putting down properties, and/or playing action cards from your bank into the center. There are many different action cards. Some examples are force rent, double the rent, steal an entire set, force a property swap, etc. The trick is making the best decision on which cards to play since you will want to play all of your cards at once. But you can't earn any money from your opponents, and thus weaken their position, without having these cards out on the table. The danger is that other people can steal these cards from you. Really that's basically it. Simple, brief, and fun.
After playing three full games, which probably last only about 15-20 minutes, we really have the hang of it and are having lots of fun with a variation one of our favorite games.
