A must for people with a bit of humor! An offbeat collectable for TITANIC fans too! Or maybe POSEIDON ADVENTURE fans as well!, January 5, 2009
A play on words, that any punster will appreciate, "Gin And Titonic" is charming and high quality, as all products from the FRED line are.
You get a mold that makes four "ships" and four "icebergs", in a cool ice blue sillicone. First class, all the way - the package is easily 'giftable'.
Be aware, the product is NOT big - if you are planning a get together with with more than 2-3 people you will either need to prepare before and make up a few (or many) set's, or perhaps buy a few molds.
I bought 2, for personal use, and have been quite happy, you can make up a few set's quite quickly - faster than a traditional icecube tray.
The molds are easy to un-mold by running warm water over the silicone bottom, or even easier with a very LIGHT spray of non-stick(such as PAM) or olive oil.
The product is super-easy to use, just fill with water and freeze it. If you crave crystal clear results, try distilled water.
As suggested by the package, the product is best used in a clear "old fashioned" (short) type of glass.
The 'sinking' effect is seen with Gin or Vodka!
TITANIC fans will love this, but....so will POSEIDON ADVENTURE fans!
Call the 'icebergs' cubes, and you can have an SS. POSEIDON drink too!
Poseidon fan's would agree that this item would be "Linda Rogo Certified COOL".
This item is is just fun, and unique, all around. The price at Amazon is better than what I have seen at boutique stores, too.
This is NOT to be missed!

Why Didn't I Think of That?, July 5, 2009
That was my initial reaction upon hearing about this product. What a brilliant concept! What a clever idea! But the fact is that I DIDN'T think of it, which is why the Fred of Fred and Friends is raking in the big bucks while this Fred is coding C on a contract basis and writing Amazon reviews for free.
The only nits to pick are little ones. Since the single ice tray you get produces only 4 Titanics and 4 icebergs at a time, for large party use you will either need to purchase several or to freeze a lot of ice cubes ahead of time. The flexible silicon tray makes ice cube removal easier, but it makes getting newly water filled trays into the freezer without spilling a pain. In addition getting your frozen Titanics out of the tray without snapping off the smokestacks is a bit tricky. In my experience the best method is to first pop loose the bow and stern and then to slowly push out the OUTER stacks until they are free and then to slowly push out the INNER stacks.
Now if this is your first introduction to Freds or Fred and Friends products, then I encourage you to check out the others because NOBODY is producing cleverer (or wackier) products for your kitchen or party needs. A small sampling of those that made me stop and smile (and long for) follows:
Fred Cool Jewels
Fred Zing! Catapult Spoon
Fred and Friends Finger Food
Fred Cool Shooters Shot Glass Mold
Fred 12-Ounce Pick Your Nose Paper Cups, Pack of 24
Fred Party People Chopsticks/Utensils, Set of 6

Oh the wonders of silicone, April 21, 2009
The Fred and Friends Gin and Titonic is the first "flexible"-style ice cube mold I have purchased, and it won't be the last. I find the mold to be pliant, resistant to tearing, and long lasting. With a brief pass under warm water the mold quickly and easily stretches to dislodge your white star line cubes and bergs. I suggest making several batches for parties, furthermore the high edge 3D mold is good for accommodating a less than level freezer space. I have a small freezer and even a less than plum pizza box provided more than enough flat space for this mold.
As a note, I found the use of non-stick spray left a strange taste to the ice. A splash under the faucet and a good stretch were all that was needed to remove my frozen ships. Furthermore, I suggest keeping your drink liquids in the fridge at least (I keep the gin in the freezer) in order to prolong the novel effect of these icey conversation pieces. I sank several of these with rum on April 14th, and the humor never wore off!
