5.0 out of 5 stars A jumped shark... nice snark, stupid analysis, May 13, 2009
To jump the shark is to say that one has pulled a Fonzie- taken credibility beyond the point of viability. To assert this program is there demonstrates an egregiously overblown ego and the absence of insight that often accompanies such egos. Devaluing the right of a woman to be sharp and fashionable caters to a mentality that I wish had jumped the shark, but as is evident from the remark is alive and well in the jealous and zealous. Beauty and brains are not mutually exclusive and to perpetuate the myth that a "hard science" show requires a less than cast in terms of physicality shows a less than intellect. The hubris is they still rated the show 3 stars, that just shows the only paint involved is what the writer may have been inhaling prior to writing their remarks.

I loved "Bones" in season one; I own the DVDs of seasons one and two; I have seen every episode of seasons three and four. But now I am watching half with a desperate hope that the show will recover, half to catch all the mistakes -- and this season has been rife with mistakes, both of character and of plot. I was willing to assume that the unbelievable ending of season three, including the wholesale dismantling of the character of Zach, was a result of the writers' strike. Now I think the show has just jumped the shark. What happened to the respect for the dead that was so marked and so poignant in season one? Why did "Bones" stop being a science show with good characters and turn into a show about flaky characters, with a bit of science on the side? And when will they give up the farce that the women are actually wearing clothes? Cam was two millimeters away from body paint in this episode. What is the point of creating strong, capable, intelligent female characters and then undercut them by treating them with so little respect that they aren't even dressed in a manner befitting their characters and positions? I am deeply disappointed with the path this series has taken.
