4.0 out of 5 stars Fast and fun game with little luck!, October 31, 2009

This review is from: For Sale (Toy)
For Sale, designed by Stephen Dorr, is the 4th installment in Gryphon Games' bookshelf offerings. Players assume the role of real estate moguls and try to earn the most money by buying and selling property.

Players start with a handful of coins with which to buy properties. Then enough properties are randomly flipped over so every player will get one. Players bid on the properties. The player who bids the most gets the most valuable one (properties are valued from 1 to 30 with no repeats). This process continues until all properties are claimed. Then players sell their properties.

Money cards are flipped over and players bid on these with their properties. This is a silent bid. The player who bid the highest valued property claims the highest money card. Once all properties are sold, the player with the most money is declared the winner.

For Sale is quick. You can play in about 10 minutes. There is minimal set up and no downtime. The game has strategy. The winner is the player who correctly invests in properties when those properties are the choicest--not necessarily on the most valuable.

For Sale is a great filler. It is also a great gateway game. Many non-gamers will find this game amusing. Gryphon
Games scores another winner with their bookshelf catalog!

This card game is real fun and fast. There is a mod to play it with two players as well. Taked only about a half hour to play with a bunch of people. The two person game variant lasts about 10 minutes so very quick. This is an easy game.

This is a simple auction game with two rounds.

In round 1, players bid to buy properties.

In round 2, players sell their properties.

The player with the most money at the end wins.

The artwork on the cards is nice to look at and amusing. An entire game can be played in about 10 minutes. The game is really portable and could be played practically anywhere.

I would recommend this game as a quick light break from bigger, heavier games. You could even use "For Sale" as a way of determining who goes first on your heavier games.
