4.0 out of 5 stars More Fun Than You Think, September 18, 2009
By Bruce Aguilar (Hollywood, CA) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The wacky humor (Broco-Lee), varied level designs (underwater, pastry factory, space station, etc.), a cardboard cut out look and odd concept (Come on, what other game has you saving the world by eating evil vegetables while collecting magical poo?) of The Munchables add up to one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in some time.

This is classic 3D platforming done in a way to appeal to gamers as young as 5 or as old as time. Yes the control is simple and more experienced gamers won't be exceptionally challenged by the gameplay but few other games will get you laughing or feeling as good as The Munchables does. The biggest challenge comes from figuring out how to beat some of the bosses which can take some trial and error.

In the main game you earn bonus items to decorate your character with (3D glasses, pirate hats, etc.) by collecting acorns. Once the game is beaten, you earn a radar upgrade that points out acorns you missed on your first go round. This is a feature more platform games should incorporate. Another feature that opens once the main story has been completed is Mirror Mode which has you go through each level in reverse under a time constraint which is actually pretty tough to complete in later levels.

Bottom line, don't dismiss The Munchables. It may look easy and childish (perhaps it even is), but by not playing The Munchables you miss out on a uniquely fun experience that you'll remember long after the controller is put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for kids, September 13, 2009
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

We rented this Wii game and within a few minutes, my 5-yr old daughter was having so much fun, we knew we had to buy it. You can pick your character, and as you munch on moving veggies and other things, your character gets bigger and bigger. The music is hip too. It's good fun, and I highly recommend it to anyone with kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waaaaay better than I thought it could be!, July 9, 2009
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I was hooked on this game after the first level. You are either a cute pink puff munchable or a tough scaly munchable (or a robot one after you beat the game ;) as you go through 8 different worlds (2 stages and a boss for each) completing certain tasks like getting to the end, eating all of a certain boss, and more. There are so many different food enemies to eat (150 with little bios to read ^-^). The gameplay is just so imaginative, you eat like crazy and get to huge sizes. If you arent big enough to eat your opponent, you smack into them to break them up and then eat them. I wish there were more levels, it just went by so fast! The story and the way it presents it is ok for this sort of game and the music is great and catchy for each level. I love how you can customize your munchable with a little accesory if your good at collecting all the acorns on each level. The Munchables is definately worth it, I really hope there will be a sequel!
