Two issues you should know about before purchasing:
1. The straps are not as simple as they appear in the pictures. First, there are too many of them for younger kids to make sense of--one over each shoulder, one under each arm, one around each side of the waist. To get into/out of the outfit, the "belt" strap and one of the over-the-shoulder straps come apart. Problem is: the unit is then a tangled mass of straps going in every direction--impossible for a little guys to unravel when they want to put the outfit on. We tried leaving it "assembled" (leaving the belt and shoulder straps connected, even when he's not wearing it) so he could see where each strap is supposed to go, but that didn't work. If it's tight enough to wear, it's too tight to wriggle into; if it's loose enough to wriggle into, it's too loose to wear. He just got struck trying to wriggle into the outfit.
2. Also, the slack from the over-the-shoulder straps hangs down in FRONT of the "breast plate." On the model, they've solved this problem by tucking the slack neatly away behind the other straps--in real life, that doesn't work for long. You can pin one of the straps down, but the other strap has to come apart where it joins the breast plate so your child can get into/out of the outfit, as noted above. Consequently, it can't really be pinned out of the way--at least, not permanently. You just have to keep tucking it behind the breast plate and the other strap. It doesn't look nearly as tidy as the picture suggests, and doesn't stay tucked away for long.
That said, my four year-old LOVES his Buzz Wings and wears them all the time! These minor issues are much more of an annoyance to me than they are to him.
Bottom line: younger kids will need a grown-up's help for putting on and taking off the outfit, and the straps are a more unwieldy than the pictures imply. Otherwise, a GREAT toy for your little Power Ranger.

I bought this jetpack for my son's 5th birthday. He loves wearing it while standing in front of the tv, watching Toy Story on DVD. When I first opened the box, I spent about 5 minutes trying to figure the thing out, then I gave up. It took my husband at least 20 minutes to figure the straps out. But once he figured it out, he laughed at himself because he said it was obvious. Either way, from reading other reviews it doesnt seem like we're the only ones who are confused by the straps. MY biggest complaint is that this toy is ruining my walls. I finally took it away from my son and told him it was an outside toy. Imagine your child wearing this hard plastic jetback as he turns corners and runs down the hallway, the hard plastic hitting the walls as he goes. We have some chipped paint now because of it. It is a good toy, but it's a better outdoor toy.

Every time we passed this jet pack in the store, my die hard Toy Story fan would start pleading for it. As embarrassing as this was (no one--not even a mom--appreciates a gimmie kid), I couldn't helped put be charmed by the idea of this toy. After dozens and dozens of "not today" and "maybe for your birthday", and my daughter's own attempts at using household items to double for a jet pack, I caved when I saw it on Amazon, and that it would ship for free.
The straps are a little flimsy, and the wings are not movable components, but the toy has provided hours and hours of entertainment for her and my one year old who watches. You'll really want to ask yourself if you aren't going to mind your kid running around the house shouting and making electronic noises for hours at a time, but if you can hold out, the extended nap is a pretty decent pay out. With Toy Story 3 coming out, this toy will only increase in popularity and will make for an unbeatable gift for the toddler set.
