So I guess I missed the news that the sun was no longer made of gas but it was now a miasma of incandescent plasma, but now I know and so does my son's kindergarten class, This was announced during the morning weather report (and yes he can now define all these words). Lots of fun facts and a great opener for conversation. Of course we were at the drug store and my Son asked if we could buy a bag of charcoal after listening to the element song so that he could make me a diamond necklace. This obviously paved the way for further scientific discussion and a good laugh. The songs are fun and are full of great facts and open the door to discuss science, often with the aid of SIRI as we are driving somewhere--not your standard carpool conversation. Must say I have left it on in the radio when my son is not in the car by mistake and been singing along ROYGBIV is a colorful man..

Now, I guess there is some controversy about the song My Brother the Ape--as it deals with evolution. Honestly, you really have to know about evolution to get the point (the video has a little intro that explains the song but other than that it is not very deep) so I do not see it tainting the world's children, Coming from a form of Christianity that accepts evolution as part of God's overall plan I think its fine and feel that people are looking hard to find a controversy. I have found the reference to unicorns but perhaps they removed the reference to angels not being real--if it is there I have heard the CD a million times and must say it is not really.

Both the cd and the dvd are really fun, witty and educational and listening to them over and over and over again is not a bad way to learn some things that serve well with repetition like names of elements, names of planets, and photosynthesis,

My kids are jamming out to science. They are 3 and 5. The most annoying thing is that I can't get "Electric Car" out of my head and my daughter keeps yelling "Bloodmobile!!!!" from the back seat.

I love all of TMBG's kids albums and this one is no exception! The funny part is, I don't even have kids!! I just love TMBG and this was well worth the purchase!

I can't believe I haven't rated this album yet. We've had our copy for a couple of months, and this is probably our family's all time favorite recording. Admittedly, we are at the geeky end of the spectrum, and my husband is a scientist and university professor, so there's little surprise that we would enjoy "Here Comes Science" for its themes.

On the other hand, the songs on this album are enjoyable musically as well. (Full disclosure: I own a few TMBG albums from my youth, so I'm the target audience there, too.)

When your kindergartener corrects an adult spontaneously on the playground that a recent collision wasn't really about speed but actually a problem of VELOCITY (speed & direction), well... let's just say we value the album almost as much as the charming childhood anecdote. :)

For myself, the very idea that a band would write a new song "Why Does the Sun Really Shine?" to make it more accurate than the earlier "Why Does the Sun Shine?" is just thrilling. I would suppose that a child who learns even one song on this album may end up knowing more real science than the average American adult.

My kids love this cd. They've been walking around the house singing the songs to themselves. It's great as an adult too because it's music that I can appreciate as well.

While visiting a scientist friend who has children, I experienced the DVD version of Here Comes Science. As a neuroscientist, I buy many copies at a time and hold onto them until a friend has a child, then give it as a shower or 1st birthday gift. The DVD is awesome, with visual depictions of the lyrics and the lyrics are awesome and scientifically accurate. Even if your child doesn't grow up to love science, the early exposure from these CD/DVDs will likely prove helpful in school. Definitely tolerable for parents, too!
