  • Enter the world of Tera as one of seven player races, each with its own history, lore, and point of view. These are the races of the Valkyon Federation, leading the way into a new era of unity as they face a battle for their very existence.
  • The eight player classes of Tera each contribute their own style of combat, their own method and approach to tactics, and their own unique abilities in solo and group play. Get to know them here-their fighting styles, their tools, and their talents.
  • Tera is a world born of conflict. It's a place where gods scheme, armies clash, and the world can change in the blink of an eye. Thousands of years have passed since the two titans, Arun and Shara, lay down and dreamed the world and its inhabitants.
  • Your enemies are many and varied. Some are strong, some are intelligent-all are dangerous. Consider this your pre-mission briefing on beasts and bad guys. Get to know them, where they come from, and how they fight.
  • The world of Tera began millennia ago when two titans of unimaginable power, Arun and Shara, met in a formless void. For reasons we can only guess, they fell asleep. And as they slept, Tera took shape around them.

I wrote this as a reply to a one star review but felt that it could be helpful out in the open. This is not a review per say, but some good info to somebody considering a purchase. Basically, why should I buy this game if it is going F2P? .... oh, if you must know my opinion of the game, it is grindy (very fetch quest heavy) but the combat is awesome (no tab targeting). I give it a solid 4 out of 5.

If you buy the game ($9.99 digital version from Amazon / $19.99 digital version directly from EnMasse / $19.99 box version from retailers) your account will have "Founder" status. Here are the differences:

FOUNDER vs F2P
- 8 character slots per server vs 2 - You may BUY more if you are not a Founder
- 4 bank tabs instead of 1 (288 vs 72) - You may BUY more if you are not a Founder
- Founder status mount (Exclusive Terminus Mount) - Not purchaseable
- Unlimited sending gold in game mail vs 10 gold cap per message
- Auction House (Broker) simultaneous postings 30 vs 10
- In game "Founder" Title - if that matters to you
IF YOU BUY ALL THE "PURCHASEABLES" ON A F2P ACCOUNT, EXPECT TO PAY $$$$$ (projected up in the area between $50-100, if not more. How else are they going to make money from a F2P subscriber?) ....Heck, the ELITE status (people who join the F2P community, never buying the game, and decides to pay $14.99 a month for Elite exclusive perks) don't even get character slots and bank inventory perks!!) $19.99 doesn't sound so bad now, huh?

Not only that. You also receive in-game bonuses for buying the game. Digital and Boxed copies have different perks. IMHO, Boxed is better:

Digital from Amazon ($9.99)
Founder perks from above
No other perks!

Digital from EnMasse ($19.

Although the game is, for the most part, well put together, people's views are going to vary greatly. Some people are going to love this game, while others are going to hate it.

CHARACTER CREATORS: 4/5
Needless to say, the graphics in this game are gorgeous. Even on low settings, the game looks amazing. The races themselves are also quite stylized. Most races have a wide variety of hairstyles, hair colors, faces, and skin colors. However, character creation can get a little confusing when you get to the "face" and "adornment" options. The "face" option allows you to select the overall facial structure of your character (baby-faced, weathered, etc.). Each face has its own specific adornments. The "adornments" option shows you more pre-made faces, which further defines the look of your character (green eyes and a scar, blue eyes and dark eye shadow, etc.). You can further tweak the structure of the face with eye, nose, mouth, and ear sliders, but you cannot further customize the adornments (i.e. you will not be able to change the color of the eyes or make-up). Also, you cannot change any properties of a character's body (height, weight, etc.). Overall, there's a lot amount of customization options, but some players will be left wishing there was more.

TAB-TARGETING MMO PLAYERS: 2/5
If you've played a lot of tab-target MMOs, the combat will take some getting used to. The main difference between tab-target MMOs and Tera is you do not need to target enemies to attack them. All you have to do is aim and shoot/swing. Tanking and healing are also much different in Tera than in other MMOs.

I would like to start off by saying that I REALLY hope this game makes it big in the states. It's got a lot of complaints about certain aspects(that are irrelevant to the actual game play) but is a fantastic game. This is also my first review so be gentle!

PROs:

Graphics
The game is downright gorgeous. There's not many other ways to describe it really. The world has both colorful, as well as darker landscapes, and it does a fantastic job of making these look absolutely phenomenal. Character models are very crisp and gorgeous as well. Even if you don't like the idea of playing the Elin race, which seem to be sprites of some sort, you just can't deny how amazing the models look compared to any other game on the market currently. You'll also notice when taking flight points that the game has an incredible sense of scale that plenty of other games have never achieved, but doesn't overdo it to the point of say, Belsavis(SWTOR).

Gameplay
Tons of fun! The combat in this game is very engaging, and the monster difficulty is a nice slow curve at the beginning while you get used to controls that are quite different from other games on the market. Things do get more challenging as you level, and I've found it to be an extremely rewarding system. It feels similar to Dark Souls when you finally kill that boss you've been having trouble with. This was the feeling I got the first time soloing a BAM, or killing some of the more difficult bosses in dungeons. The enchanting system is an interesting way to develop your current gear to higher levels. I won't explain it because it would take a while, but it's interesting to say the least. Your bank is shared between all characters on that server, and this gets high conveniences points in my book!
