- It basically uses a pressure-sensitive Reflex LCD for the writing.
- Reflex LCDs utilize "cholesteric" liquid crystals, producing an image from reflected light.

Was fantastic while it lasted!,
I bought the Boogie Board roughly 6 months ago, and we absolutely loved it! My girlfriend and I got the magnet kit so we could keep it on our fridge, and we'd primarily use it to leave each other notes and make grocery lists. Knowing that there are a finite number of erases before the unit stops working, we were always cautious to wait till the whole thing filled up before we'd clear it again. After about 4 months, the unit suddenly stopped erasing consistently. It would still make the clicking sound, but the image would remain. We made multiple attempts in contacting customer service about the matter, but they have been slow to respond (weeks) and have not taken any action towards replacing our malfunctioning unit. We were able to get it to erase a handful of times since it started acting up by gently twisting the portion containing the electronics, but as of the last erase we have had no further luck. I rate this product 3 stars because it really was a cool toy to have around the apartment when it worked, but was unfortunately quick to become a paperweight due to faulty construction and a lack of customer service.

This is a neat little tablet. I originally planned on using it for a grocery list on our fridge. It doesn't come with magnets, so I did have to go out an buy some magnetic tape (making this magnetic seems so obvious to me, I don't know why they didn't). Also, there is no way to erase just one line if you make a mistake - the erase button clears the whole thing. It's really a neat little writing tablet, but not as easy to use as I envisioned. Either way, it is fun:)
