Within about two weeks of wear the shoe fit great - its been a few months now and the shoe fits *perfectly*.
For the cooler part of the year, these are the only shoes I wear; I'm very happy with this purchase.
Supremely comfortable and well fitting- this is an excellent year round boot, that I primarily use in winter.

Spent a long time researching boot replacements for my old Herman Survivors (pre Walmart). Was set on Timberlands but realized they were no longer made in the USA and the price definitely does not reflect asian made. Looked up boots recommended by guys in trade forums that work in boots all day. Danners, Carolina Boot Co., Red Wing and Chippewa kept being mentioned. I finally settled on Chippewa due to most if being made in the USA. They also don't hide the fact of some boots being made overseas.
I debated between an insulated model (that is sold at LL Bean) and this non-insulated model Chippewa 20080 Apache. I went with the non-insulated since I wanted a day to day boot I could wear at work and not get too hot. I had to have what I call tractor-tread (lugged) sole. Water proof was not as important as breathability. I did research leather conditioners and water proofers and settled on Obenauf's LP Boot Preservative. This added some water repellency and protection. Natural ingrediants, not a chemical treatment. Very happy with it.

So for my review I could not be happier with my choice. Thick soft leather. Quality stitching and finishing. They show no signs of wear after much use. I'll include a picture of how they look. Traction in the snow and ice is very good.

Fit was half size less than I normally wear when I chose a 2E. Normally I wear normal width.

Comfortable from the first day and getting better everyday since. I am seriously thinking of wearing these in the summer too.

I'm 60 years old. Wear my boots 8 hours per day +. Do concrete construction at remote sites and my feet feel good all day long till I take my boots off at the end of the day. The boots look and feel great. I wear a 14 2E and the fit is just right. When these wear out I'll buy two more. I bought my boots at Amazon. Thank you.

Returned twice due to defects - sole was separating from boot. The third pair lasted just long enough to get out of warranty, then the sole separated from that pair as well after only light use. Now we're out $170 with useless boots. Will definitely not buy from this manufacturer again.

I wear an 11 in sneakers, a 10.5 in dress shoes, and I had to return these twice. I had to go a full size down to a 9.5 to get a good fit on these. Once I got the sizing dialed in though, I loved them. The leather is thick and the boots are rugged and comfortable.

I normally wear an 8 or 8.5 wide. I knew these were big so I got a 7.5 wide. The length is right but the width is really too big. Try a pair on before you buy them!

In this day and age most "boots" are made of many different scrap materials from different countries.
Fortunately you can still find a no BS, Made in U.S.A. resoleable pair of boots. These boots are
very versatile. So far they've performed well with work, hiking and they're even stylish enough
to almost be dress boots. They are a warm weather boot, as they are breathable, but not waterproof.
I only wish the lining wasn't cotton so it would better wick moisture.

But if you want an all purpose boot, this is a great pick ! I highly recommend it!

So, I'll start off by saying that I've been a customer of Chippewa boots for close to a decade, making the switch from Red Wing boots when they started manufacturing products overseas. When it comes to work boots, I only purchase American made.

The boot I lived in before purchasing these was the Chippewa Apache Super logger boot. Those boots were worn daily for 2+ years, cared for moderately when needed and they are still in great shape considering the abuse they've been subjected to. The reason for purchasing this boot was due to a change in my work environment and the need for a lighter boot more suitable for copious amounts of walking in the city.

The first pair i received was visually disappointing. The craftsmanship was less than what I expected coming from Chippewa. The stitching was uneven, the eyelets did not match up evenly and the welt stitching was particularly sloppy. I took it as a one-off & sent it back to amazon for an exchange.

The second pair that arrived, was better, but not by much. The shape of the soles were not uniform (left wider than right). The welt stitching was more uneven than the first pair, but the eyelets lined up and the leather seemed to be in better condition. Overall I was pretty underwhelmed with my initial assessment of them, but decided to keep them. These boots were purchased for work, and at this price point, some inconsistencies are to be expected for a handcrafted item.

Forward ~2 weeks. I've worn the boots 2 times. The first wear, the boots were a bit stiff, but thats to be expected.

The second wear was today in NYC. It was raining very heavy, so I left my expensive leather at home and decided to give these a go. After the first puddle, I knew I had a problem.

I have been using Red Wing 8 inch boots for years, very comfortable and well made. The last pair I bought had to be restitched twice though. I do stone work in SW Colorado, so it can get very hot working outdoors. I wanted to try a 6 inch boot instead of a 8 inch high boot to see if they would be any cooler. I look for boots that are just leather and don't cushioning all around in them them because it is hot. I gave the Chippewa Apache's a try. Got them just in time for a 1000 sq ft stone patio at about 8K feet high on the south side of a new house. They do seem to be a little cooler than a 8 inch boot and that is good. The boots are not too heavy and that is good. The cons are if I look down on my right boot the leather with the grommets in it for the laces on the left side does not come up as far towards the center of the boot as the other side. The other boot is cut fine. There is also a bump in the foot bed of the weirdly cut boot just under the ball of my foot. So after a few hours working my right foot is killing me. I have tried different insoles to see if that helps, It helps a little bit but not much. My next move is to take the boots to the Cobbler and see if he can fix the bump in the foot bed. The weird cut in the leather may be pulling my foot a little of center also. I don't think I will buy Chippewa boots again.
