A pair of Yorkshire young guns face a former rock star who now has a Michelin Star. The West House in Biddenden, Kent is run by an extraordinary couple called Graham and Jackie who took a huge risk 8 years ago by selling their family home to open this, their first restaurant. Ex-rock drummer Graham - who toured with Queen - only started cooking when he hung up his drum sticks at the age of 31. Despite this, Graham's talent for creating unpretentious British food was confirmed within 18 months of opening when he won a coveted Michelin Star.

I enjoy watching the competition of chefs, watching their creativity, their mistakes, and their successes. It always inspires me to cook better food.

I have been a bit frustrated with Ramsay (and the hosts of food competitions) lately; the decisions tend to be over-dramatic, with lots of repeated phrases from episode to episode ("hardest decision I've ever made"). In addition, the wording and film cuts try to make you think one group will lose when it's ultimately another. It's all very annoying.

I like cooking. I wish the focus of these shows was more on cooking.

This series takes a range of the best restaurants in the UK across a variety of cuisines and pits them against each other in a competition to find the best. The format for each showdown is the same - a service is overloaded by a rush of customers, there's a secret diner, and the finale is a cook-off in Ramsay's flagship restaurant.

There's less cursing compared with most Ramsay TV shows and the lack of dramatic music from FOX makes a huge difference. Here we actually get to see what the restaurants are like and the reality elements of television don't overpower the whole experience.

While the competition is somewhat repetitive especially in its delivery (count how many times Gordon uses the same phrases), I took down a list of about a half dozen restaurants that I would love to try if I ever make it back to the UK. It's good to see a more underproduced version of his shows and fans of the formula will get a kick out of this one.

An outstanding show, one of Gordon's best.

Contestants have been culled from 12000 entries all over the UK. Then thirty of Gordon's hand picked
diners arrive by bus to order simultaneously, putting extreme pressure on the kitchen. Advancement in
the competition is made more difficult by secret diners who show up to make their waiters miserable
with repeated silly requests and complaints while they videotape the entire experience for Gordon to
review and critique. This is all factored into the decision on who advances.

Winners move up the ladder towards a series finale at the F Word restaurant where the final four go
head-to-head for the title of Britain's Best Restaurant, and a free drink. haha Great series, and a
must for all GR fans.

Really great show. The restaurants arent in trouble, the chefs know how to cook, and they are already popular. T.V. Show idea anyone? It was a nice relief to see Ramsay on a show where the chefs knewe how to cook and everything seemed to be fine with everyone. Show seemed to be designed to make them more popular which is great. Looking forward to another season if one comes out.

I only watched the first episode and I already look forward to watching the rest of the season. It's great to see Ramsay' more professional and passionate side which we don't usually get to see on American television. The competition is fierce and every chef is bringing their A+ game. I hope they produce more seasons!

I was hooked. I was really rooting for the Indian restaurant, but they all worked their hardest. There was little to no cooking instruction per episode. It was really strictly a competition and really allowed to see the appreciation Gordon has for all the cuisines featured. I watched the entire season in one day.

This series is fabulous! I watched eight episodes in one sitting and didn't finish any of my weekend chores. Each episode was like watching a train wreck... I couldn't turn away. Lots of excitement, tons of talent, and a deluge of exquisite food. The down side? None of the restaurants deliver to Texas!
