Dennis:

One day you might come around here wondering if anybody watched, or if anybody thought about what you made, or what you did. So I want to tell you that I watched every episode of this series. Every minute on film. The whole thing.

It was brilliant. We don't have the kind of culture we used to, so some TV show could get buried in the Big Brothers and the Survivors and the Lifetime movies, but you gave this your whole Irish heart and nothing less, all these years. And I saw it. Heard it. Watched with gratitude.

You are an artist. You could be our Sam Beckett, if they let us have those anymore.

It was 9/11/11 today. I kept the news off all day. It wasn't lost on me that it was Rescue Me on Amazon as the clock reset to 12 AM.

Thank you.

Alison

All in all this was a pretty good ending to this series which lasted for seven seasons. I think it was a good time for this show to close at this point. The story had gone as long as it could and the emphasis should shift to a younger generation of fire fighters to whom these guys pass the torch.

Denis Leary closes out especially well. His character attains a certain degree of maturity and makes better decisions about where to take his life next. The other guys fall in line as well. Miracle of miracles, the wife and girlfriend don't bother me either, which previously has always been the weakest part of the show for me.

There is a certain amount of humor in this closing out as well. The substitution of cake mix for ashes is especially a winner.

Franco's character uttered the term during the finale at it was fitting. The show Rescue Me had come to it's end. Leu's eulogy brought tears to your eyes. You realize that the characters that you've grown to love and hate are gone for good. Then you slapped with the reality that Leu is the one that's gone. From there the show just wraps everything up into a nice little pile. Everyone was true to form and excellent. The ending was perfect with the buddies riding off into the sunset.

True enough the show had run it's course. There were no more stories to tell. Watching Damion in his wheelchair had become uncomfortable, Franco had become a bitter, egomaniac, and Tommy's stuttering, illogical ramblings were getting tiresome. There could be no coming back after losing Leu. He was the sane piece that kept it all together. His passing was the perfect ending to a great show. I'm really going to miss it.

Denis Leary is excellent in this life+fire fighter drama/comedy. The final season goes out as only Rescue Me can go out: in a blaze, of course and pun intended. All the actors are great in this well directed program. The director carefully balances comedy with drama (albeit in some episodes one or the other takes the fore). Rescue Me puts all past and future fire fighter drama's to shame; they simply don't compare. I recommend every season of this compelling comedy/drama.

My wife and I started watching the series and really enjoyed it. While not completely closing the story off, it left you kinda where you started....with uncertainty. I was left wanting more but knowing that if they continued it would most likely turn into the same ole same ole. But it was nice to see that they tried to let you know that, as Leu said "Every thing will be fine, trust me", in the ending. Now, we are hoping we can possibly find a great show like this that is worth watching from beginning to end.

Everything gets resolved in the final season as it should. All the seasons I spent rooting for Tommy paid off. LOL. He finally got it together and there is some sense of peace and normalcy for him. Great series altogether.

7 seasons of great work and homage to all the brave fireman past & present. Kudos!
A real look at everyday life and extra ordinary circumstances in a fireman/woman's life. Denis Leary ROCKS as Tommy, great cast and very strong performances. You cry and laugh with them!!!

When we first started watching this series, we thought it was fantastic. But as the years rolled on, you could tell they ran out of steam. Same story lines over and over. The didn't just jump the shark, they jumped the shark tank!
