I know I've recently been spoiled by 'Endeavour', 'Foyle's War', 'Vera', 'Wallander', etc, so I wasn't expecting much in production quality from these Wexford shows, given that they were produced in the '90s when TV still 'looked' and 'sounded' like TV (as opposed to today, when TV shows have the same production quality as big budget movies). Still, even with that understood, I found the acting a bit 'hammy' here, which I don't think was the fault of the actors, but the fault of the script, which seemed very 'obvious' and heavy handed compared to the very nuanced dialogue and intricate detective plots of today. Still, if you are like me, and have totally run out of more contemporary British crime dramas to watch, then this is enjoyable enough. Just don't approach it with hopes that are too high (this ain't no 'Wallander' or 'Foyle's War').

All of the episodes are good and the actors are excellent throughout. "Harm Done" is the real gem, complex stories well told.

I love these old mysteries. The first one was really gripping. The author includes social critique of issues of the day with brutal murders.
The first episode (3 shows) dealt with racism and sexism. The second episode (3 shows) dealt with environmental issues (save the globe).

Perhaps because my parents were British and I like to hear the regional accents of the UK I find this series enjoyable.

This was my first viewing of a Ruth Rendell. I was most taken with the heartbreaking performance by Clare Holman. It was hard to see her character go thru such pain and I couldn't help but cheer for her evolution from such vulnerability to strength. It was an interesting look at how the police handle domestic malice.

Love Ruth Rendel books and I had seen this series years ago. I'm disappointed they all aren't
available to watch today. I hope they get that worked out soon.

Wish there were more of these! Wexford is personable. Not how I picture him from the books but still great acting and puzzling stories.
