With zero reviews I was a little hesitant to watch this movie. I ended up really liking it. From the start it looked like it was going to be the typical Mormon troubled youth survival camp, which it was, but I really liked it. The scenery was great as well as the lessons learned and not learned. Just look at the filming locations and you will see what I mean. Without giving too much away, I couldn't help thinking, these are the lessons I was learning 40 and 50 years ago as a scout. Perhaps with the right scout leader, these kids might not of had the problems they did.

This film is a half decent attempt at a dramatic film depiction of a wilderness program experience for 'youth at risk'. I spent some years doing this type of work guiding youth in the wilderness and I know how invaluable these journeys can be towards helping a young person to find their way through the difficult passage that typically is characteristic of adolescence. ..... The subject matter is one which I would say is a rather challenging one to make into an interesting, entertaining and engaging dramatic film. While I think it could probably be done better than it is in this film, I think this was a half decent attempt.

I might take some issue with the films depiction of what a "Vision Quest" is all about. What the trip leaders in this film called a vision quest might have better been termed a 'solo survival quest', but the term vision quest has at times been more loosely used these days. ........ I also found myself wondering if the film was based on a true story when at the end the film provided text for each character, stating what became of them after they finished the wilderness program experience. Of course this is sometimes done in fictional films.

Complete waste of time. That is my conservative comment. It was so bad i kept watching waiting for a redeeming moment that never happened. Even the feel good ending didnt sort out the true issues. It did feel good that it was over however!

had to fast forward thru most of it. Kept looking for something that might be interesting, but the characters were flat and at times laughable. It was predictable.

I didn't find any thing exciting in the movie, but it does show fairly accurately what these camps are like. My son attended the Eckard Wilderness camp in NC. He spent a year there, coming home on weekends after spending a few months there. We could go and visit on certain days of the week. I felt it was good for him but as for him, it didn't help much because he returned to his old ways he had prior to going to the camp. Based on what I saw, where they lived, what they got to do, and always under the supervision of camp counselors who lived 24 hours a day with them and even sleeping in their camp buildings that they had to make. So this movie came close to showing what is done. Good movie.

If you are looking for a good family movie, with a good ending, this is it. But please, those of you who have issues with the darker side of life and living, dealing with drug use, self esteem issues, anger management problems and just plain troubles, watch it twice. Yes, it is a bit corny, as the vision quest and animal naming is a rip-off from the native american traditions, and it is not done correctly, but something like this could help others who are fighting the same battles, getting them away from bad influences and teaching them good things about themselves. Enjoy!

Who wants to watch a kid rehab and psych movie ??? I don't need a bummer of a movie , it is good for some but not for me. I like action shoot-em up videos that's fast action and keep you on the edge of you seat. I don't need group therapy in the video; It starts out good sort of then gets boring watch at your own pleasure and waste of time..
