I remember as a kid this was THE show I looked forward to on Saturday mornings. And they don't make these like they used to, in first episode Garfield says "Anyone who sings like that should be drug out in the street and shot." HAH!

This children's show is clever and entertaining, plus, it teaches many life lessons, like how to be nice to others, obeying the laws, stand up for your friends, and more. U.S. Acres is my favorite part, especially the later episodes. I also watched this on Boomerang as a kid and loved it. The reason why I took off one star is that some episodes can be really bad and/or boring, but not as bad as SpongeBob or Nina Needs to Go!, and because I lost interest in this, and am now onto Mumfie.

Watching this show reminds me of Saturday mornings with my daughters. I find it so sad that Saturday mornings isn't about chilling and watching cartoons. That's because there are no good cartoons on to watch. I'm a Baby Boomer and Saturdays were always about watching cartoons. I'm very glad my daughters understand the importance of quality cartoons. Garfield and Friends is a quality cartoon.

Some of the jokes are lame and the situations are contrived but my kids enjoy the adventures of Garfield and friends. The animation isn't top notch yet it holds their attention. If you like the comic strip and such, this cartoon will be right down your alley. Have a lasagna and enjoy!

I was so surprised to see this available on Prime. I used to watch this cartoon fairly regularly when I was a kid. So much so that it got me to seek out the actual Garfield comic strip, which I remember reading for a few years before better sense won over.

This cartoon is very much a product of its time. It's from the decade where every character, every minor celebrity, every advertising mascot had their own cartoon. The difference with the Garfield cartoon is the fact that the shows writers were rallying their best to make a good cartoon. And it still shows today.

Lorenzo Music has the distinction of being one of the first voice actors that I actually knew by name. Perhaps because I got started on Garfield through this cartoon, Lorenzo Music's portrayal of the character became the character for me. It's some of the best character voice acting even today.

The cartoon is not totally brain dead, and it does have some all ages humor it it. It's still very much aimed at kids though. I might also be giving these episodes some nostalgia leeway as far as the writing goes.

The digital transfer isn't perfect, but this is an old cartoon that probably didn't get a lot of archival attention after it stopped airing. Anyways it looks fine for the time, though there is some obvious upscaling and some blurry animation as a result.

Overall though, I still say this is the best thing that Garfield has ever done. Better than the comic strip, and worlds better than the movie. I'd definitely recommend a watch if you want something friendly sarcasm from a cat's inner monologue.
