OK. So there is Food Network and there is the Cooking Channel. And then there are folks who really know what they are doing. I have learned so much from these folks and I'm a much better cook because of it. Of course there are some things that honestly are not worth the effort (they make EVERYTHING; very little processed stuff), but results are gooooood.

While it isn't my favorite season, I'm still happy to have it on Amazon. I'm looking forward to next season though! I think my favorite episode was where they talked about how to cook eggs. I have found that this method is superior to the dried out eggs I have cooked in the past. I suppose you don't know what you don't know.

This show is great for most anyone interested in cooking from the never cooked anything in my type person but is interested in learning how to people who are good cooks and want tried and true cooking ideas to improve a dish they like and also are looking replace something in their kitchen with new but are not sure what is going to hold up the best. But what I like best about this show is it explains the why's and how's something works or did not work. I am an excellent cook have always told so at any rate, but when asked by friends and even my kids why you do something a certain way in order to have it turn out right I simple did not know I just learned over time and trial and error that it had to be done that way or the texture would be wrong or it would be tuff or would not rise or what ever. But I could not explain the why's as I never new. I love this show because it explains the why's and how's the chemistry behind the process and how it works. I love this as now I know they why's and how's I can also apply this to different cooking idea's I get. Just saves on the time and effort making whats in my head make it to the kitchen table and less food in trash in the trash while I try again

This is my all time favorite cooking show. I have made several of these recipes after watching the videos and hopping in the car to get all the ingrdients at the grocery, and each one came out exactly as it should have. My fave is the episode with the french apple cake. I cant remember which season that is but the cake is amazing and very true to the flatter, sweet cake the french make with lots of apples. These recipes are manageable for your average hobbiest/cook in your own home's kitchen. The only recipe i will decline to make is croissants... that one is just took much trouble. Rather the bakery handle that one! If youclike to cook ajx want a variety of interesting, doable and true to promised good taste, watch all these episodes and seasons.

Watching ATK is really time well spent if you want to improve your kitchen skills...from cooking, equipment selection, technique and even knife sharpening.

You may not always agree with the winner of their "taste tests" (well, Chris doesn't always agree with their tasting results either) but you may benefit by knowing who finished last.

Their equipment tests are worth seeing as well, again, you may not be able to "afford the winner" but they often offer their "best value pick" as well.

The time they spend explaining "why" something works is also of value since that kind of info "carries over" into other cooking and meal preparation decisions. Example: the difference between Baking Soda and Baking Powder including why and how they work; corn starch to a cream / milk mixture to help insure it doesn't break during cooking.
