This film is a cut above other African-American stoner films. It does not rely upon crude cliche humor in order to be funny, although it doesn't exempt itself from it either. Bud (Wesley Jonathan) is an aspiring comic book author who spends most of his time getting stoned with his free loading buds. When the supply from the local dealer One Punch (Gerald Kelly) dries up, the guys look elsewhere. The Mad Mexican (Jorge Diaz) comes through with weed he took from his cousin and dealer Big Happy (Emilio Rivera) who I find as a Danny Trejo light. Bud performs asides during the film but it is One Punch who talks about himself in the third person that everyone finds confusing.

There are a number of things that are going on at the same time. One Punch's girlfriend Gigi (Ashley Van Dyke) wants Bud. Bud's sister (Danielle E. Hawkins) performs Internet booty shakes (face covered) which causes men to touch themselves. Bud's mother (Luenell) is an over the top character. There are plenty of laughs and material which I found original. The campy characters were well done. I will go 4 1/2 stars on the African-American Stoner film scale.

PARENTAL GUIDE: F-bombs, N-word, no sex, no nudity, sex talk.

This movies was a different kind of funny. You need to have a good sense of humor to really appreciate it. My husband thought it was the bomb. Must be a man thing.

I watched this on Netflix over a year ago. I went into it not expecting much. I decided to give it a 5 minute chance to thrill me otherwise I'd turn it off. I ended up watching the whole thing.

This movie draws a lot of comparisons to "Friday" and although some of those are true, it's still it's own thing. The movie is fantastic for the first 3/4 of the way. It's the last 1/4 of the movie that's just very over the top and boring. It didn't look like the writers knew how to end the story so they tacked on a bunch of stupid ideas and wrapped it up in a hurry.

The only way you'll get this movie to it's fullest is if you smoke weed and hang out with other people that do as well. The way J-Peezy is obsessed with weed is just so hilarious. Art imitating life I suppose. The fact that Bud has an "emergency blunt" is also something a lot of stoners can relate to and laugh about. Pretty Tony was the weakest of the group but still pretty funny with his constant chap stick application. The "Mad Mexican" is one of the funniest aside from J-peezy. You can tell during the party scene that he was REALLY high. It's nice to see him in a mainstream movie recently "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones."

The character of Big Shi$$y is completely disgusting yet extremely funny at the same time. The hilarious editing when he's skateboarding is just priceless. The fact that we are supposed to believe that this dude can skate board like a pro and has enough skill to make babes trip on his board so he can check them out is just ridiculous. Enough that I tip my hat. They got the humor just right.

Like I said, the movie is brilliant up until a few minutes after the party scene.
