Great "Quick and Easy" start. Some flaws.

I don't believe this bit is in the preview, but DQ&E claims that it equips you to be able to read "most Old English prose". It goes on to recommend other works for understanding poetry (which is apparently much more fluid in grammatical construction).

An initial reaction:

Honestly I'm a little surprised at the number of errors in here. I don't know anything about Old English, but plainly contradicting information and blatant encoding errors make it a little hard to read in places.

That said, those flaws are _mostly_ minor.

In many of the pronunciation clues, the examples are unclear. Examples: are the "oo" in "school" and the "u" in "bull" supposed to be pronounced differently? What about the "i" in "will"and the "i" in "his"? I'll need to look up more academic descriptions of these sounds (or ideally, find some trustworthy recordings).

While this is frustrating; I think it's easy enough to work around. I *was* able to translate the few very simple Old English sentences in Exercise 8 pretty quickly.

I've read it through (quickly) once, and will am currently going through a second time, spending a bit more time studying and working the exercises.
