Install was a bit of a pain. It appears the power magic doesn't work at first, but it really does. I have another BlackVue in the truck and it helped me figure out what was going on. First, you need to make sure it is grounded properly and then you need to start the vehicle. Just turning the key to ACC didn't work, I had to start the engine and then it worked. So those that had/have issues, try starting the vehicle when all else fails.

Trying to get the app to connect via the Wi-Fi was a bit of a Opps as well. Turns out you have to go to the device settings (iPod Touch in this case) and actually connect to the BlackVue like it was it's own network/hub/router whatever you want to refer to it as. Using the default password of blackvue, I connected and then started the App, hit the BlackVue Wi-Fi to connect, and was able to connect to it and Live View and see all the recorded files and play them and such. This was a big plus because getting the microSD card out would require you to unplug both cables (Power and Rear Camera Cable) to open the cover and get the card out. I was also able to change the password to something a bit more secure and save it to the device. Had to unplug it and let it shut down for the changes to be saved. Then I had to reconnect using the new (8 characters restriction) password. When your car is near a Wi-Fi your device is automatically set to connect to, you will have to manually go into your devices settings and get off said network and join the BlackVue device's network instead to use the app. A bit of a hassle, but it does work!

I really like having my rear covered as well with this 2CH setup and I love how the software on the PC plays. It will be nice when they get the Wi-Fi app to work exactly the same! I can imagine how nice it will play on an iPad!

I needed a camera system for my tow trucks and I checked through both online and local sources for a quality setup at a reasonable price.
The only other setup that came close to the quality of this item was through a local shop but that system required an extensive installation process and the price was outrageous at a starting quote of around $1,400, without audio recording.
This system installed fairly quickly and so far has been flawless.
We have had a few customer "complaints" that have been proven false as soon as the video is reviewed - its fun watching peoples faces when they are trying to scam you and you are able to whip out proof that they are scum sucking liars.
Absolutely amazing picture quality and the audio recording is phenomenal.

I brought my dashcam from HD Video Depot. It was the BlackVue DR550. It came within a week. I paid to have it installed by my auto mechanic because I did not want to wire the "Power Magic" to the fuse box. It records while parked and the Power Magic protects it from draining the battery. The 550 has the silver ring around the lens of the front camera so I used a flat black SHARPIE from the office supply store to color the silver ring black and I put a heat resistant black electrical tape on the holder to cover the silver color. I want the camera to be invisible. I went into the setting and turned off the LED blinking security lights. The finished product is almost invisible. Look at the description of the 550 and it does what it says. There is a new model out called 650 but with a 64 MB SD-DISK it is almost $480, which is more than I wanted to spend. So the below $380 for a 32 GB one was affordable for me. You might want to wait for Christmas for the price of the 650 to drop to below $400 and get one, but other than a larger memory and slight improvements there is little difference between the 550 and the 650. I either damaged the audio visual cable or it came with a bent pen, but either way the warranty folks for HD Video Depot took care of the problem immediately. There are three major dealers, one in Vancouver who is excellent as shown on YouTube, one in the North East, and HD that is in California. Go on YouTube and look at each of their internet sites, and find the best deal; but whatever you do, get the Magic Pro included in the price.

It is an ok camera system for the car. The magic pro I did not install I rather not mess with my new vehicle's fuse box.
I just went the dual battery route on the truck an avoid that possible nightmare.

It is very nice not having to pull out the sd card to view its content, simply connect by using wifi.

The video quality is not the greatest, even at 1080 sometimes you cannot make out drivers license plates while in motion.

The rear camera could be a little better. If it could be used as a backup camera easier, it would make up for the not so impressive video image quality for me. You can use it as such while connected with it in wifi, but there is a few seconds delay on the video.

The software doesn't seem to save my wifi password after I disconnect from the camera. So, that is an extra annoying step every time I want to connect to the camera with my android wifi system.
