I absolutely love this show! I fell in love with the pilot episode and was instantly hooked. It has everything I love; suspense, horror, gothic imagery, fish-out-of-water comedy, time-travel, creative monsters, characters I care for and much more. 13 highly entertaining episodes you'll wanna see again and again (especially during the Fall season) This review will contain spoilers!

The series is a tribute to Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, only the show is much better than the book. Tom Mison is fascinating to watch as Ichabod Crane, a soldier in the Colonial Army that is resurrected in present day time who must help Lieutenant Abbie Mills fight the Headless Horseman and other demonic creatures. (It's hilarious to watch the character of Ichabod react to modern day technology and speak with 1780's dialog.) Of course not all episodes deal with the Headless Horseman. It turns into a 'monster-of-the-week' kinda show, but I promise it doesn't take away from the fun. There is one episode that deals with the Horseman's backstory that'll leave you shocked. I can't speak highly enough of this show. I can't wait to buy the Blu-Ray and look forward to the 18 episode second season. I definitely recommend SLEEPY HOLLOW: SEASON ONE!!!

Having seen the write up and trailer on IMDB, I was curious to see what it was about -- I was on the edge of my seat, but also laughing, too.

It is atmospheric (a dark and spooky Sleepy Hollow), re-imagines the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" with a Crane who was a British spy working with George Washington against a Headless Horseman who sets the stage for the Apocalypse, and a modern spin with Sleepy Hollow Police Lieutenant Abbie Mills getting involved. The two crime-fighting leads, played by Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison, are funny (snarky) and just seem to have great chemistry even though they are from two different centuries.

Oh, and of course the musical theme couldn't be more perfect, the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil".

We are introduced to the two lead characters, Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills, in the first 10 minutes, and you watch as they try to thwart the Headless Horseman in his killing spree to find his head. They also have to convince Captain Irving (yes, a nod to Washington Irving) that: 1) Ichabod Crane is from 1776, and 2) Abbie Mills saw something that makes Crane valuable in solving the killings.

It is pure fantasy that happily takes liberties with a lot of things, but in the end it is fun, exciting, and could possibly be addictive if the rest of the series matches the first episode.

I think we are FINALLY getting away from reality TV. This is going to be a great fantasy based series. It is suspenseful and the acting is well above average. The beheading is a bit gruesome, but give me a beheading over Honey Boo Boo any day. I will be waiting anxiously for episode 2.

This show is a great series so far. The way that they infuse old legends with history helps to make the story so captivating. The cast is an exceptional one. Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie make a great team. I am looking forward to seeing more episodes. I think this show could have a long shelf life.

This is one of the most entertaining television series of the last few years. It’s a quirky combination of police procedural, horror, history, shaken and stirred until it’s fun to watch. Most cross genre shows are serious, many try to appeal to a younger demographic and fall short in the story telling department because they equate young with immature - this show appeals across demographics because the episodes and overall stories are excellent. The special effects are very good but the pacing and storytelling will get you!

The foundation of the show is the relationship between Crane and Abby and how they slowly grew to be partners that brought their own strengths to the relationship (which was something that didn’t happen in the cancelled “Almost Human”). The introduction of Abby’s sister and how they are into world saving as opposed to fashion, men, etc. is another strong point of the series.

If you haven’t taken in this guilty pleasure get on the ball. Great acting and chemistry (though I don’t think it has to be a romantic one), wonderful world building and reveals, and again I love the history like Abby talking to Crane about Sally Hemmings. That episode hooked me.

A great show for the fall!
Plot-
This show is the legend of sleepy hollow with a modern twist to the legend. Now they are in the 21st century and the headless horseman was a red coat in the civil war, while Ichabod Crane was a revolutionary fighting under General Washington. Ichabod decapitated the headless horseman in the revolutionary war, while Ichabod got mortally wounded by the headless horseman. During the fight their blood mixed linking them together, both died. 250 years later the horsemen was awakened and Ichabod along with him.

Recommendation- Highly recommended to any fans of the legend, any who like mystery stories, or any who like great stories to sit down in fall with some apple cider and get a sense of the season!
