I have watched all 11 seasons of Top Chef and this one was by far the most disappointing. They actually had some very talented chefs this season and as the season progressed, it became painfully obvious that the elimination decisions were controlled by Tom Colicchio. Of course I can't taste the food, however, the candid reactions of the guest judges and the guest diners/celebrity chefs made it quite apparent that their opinions were largely ignored rather than respected or valued. It was pervasive throughout the season, however, the finale made it blatantly obvious that the winner was a favorite of Tom's regardless of what anyone thought. I don't want to spoil this for anyone who has not seen the finale so I'm not revealing the name, however, it was a travesty. Furthermore, it becomes more and more apparent that the show has become mostly a vehicle for pushing specific brands (usually some canned/boxed/frozen item with processed ingredients). I understand the need to finance a show of this magnitude with product placement, however, it destroys the integrity of quality cooking and those chefs/home cooks striving to utilize better ingredients. This can easily be remedied by reaching out to smaller independent businesses that make an effort to create quality products. It is extremely hypocritical to talk about shopping at farmers markets, fresh, locally sourced produce and ingredients and the farm to table, or farm to fork movement, as just a hip trendy phrase but then failing to follow through and instead pushing low quality ingredients onto the "cheftestants" during the quick fire challenges. Also, is Padma there just to be eye-candy? Gratuitous camera shots of her slinky outfits really feel forced and a bit awkward and bring nothing to the show.

I own all the seasons of Top Chef, and actually just recently re-watched most of them. I say most of them because for me, the show lost itself after season 8. This season in particular was a travesty for me. I couldn't believe one of the people who made it into the finale. When the finale episode became available to watch, I skipped to the end to see who won, hoping against hope it wasn't the wrong person. When I found out, I couldn't stand to watch the entire episode.

When I watch the seasons, they kind of break into certain clumps for me. The first two remind me of the first season of the Real World, really raw and gritty. Seasons 3-5 felt more polished and there was a little less drama from the contestants which made it better viewing. It also felt like higher quality chefs had started entering into the show, making the cooking section better as well. Seasons 6-8 you could really start to tell that the sponsors were getting their grips on the show, but It wasn't so outrageously in my face I couldn't bare it, and I was still enjoying the cheftestants that were in the show. It still felt fun and interesting to watch.

Now with seasons 9-11, I just haven't really cared about the majority of the contestants. I feel bad for Padma having to pander the sponsors support for anything and everything that is in the show. Maybe they are just running out of ideas, but I also feel like the quickfires and elimination challenges aren't as interesting as they use to be. Apparently the chefs have unlimited budgets for challenges now as well, because Padma used to announce how much they could spend for a challenge, which could make things a little more interesting as well. It just doesn't feel fun any more, and this season hammered that home all to hard.

I too have watched all 11 seasons of Top Chef and this one by far was the most unjust! The winner, Nicholas should have been eliminated several challenges prior, but Tom was determined to keep him in the game (blatantly obvious). There were several chefs that continuously out cooked him; but Tom was determined to over rule and keep Nicholas with his piss pour attitude in the game! Remember, his previous employer fried all his chefs-hiring all of them back except for Nicholos...dud??? This should tell you something. He a exalted legend in his and Tom's mind only!!!
I know longer have faith in the judges, especially Tom!!! Koudos to Padama, Emeril for trying to defend fairness!

Nah, not a good year. No drama. Similar challenges. Padma has lost her charm and Tom seems held back. It's time to pack it in and move on. The whole show has simply gotten boring -- like most repeat season cooking shows. We need something new.

I used to enjoy this program - but as time has progressed it's become obvious that what Tom Colicchio wants, he gets. He has his favorites and it doesn't matter if they are horrible people or less talented than others - his favorite will win.

I won't be watching any further seasons of this program.

Worst season of top chef so far. If you like the show I would recommend watching a previous season because season 11 is terrible.
