Gosh, this show!! I normally dislike modern-day sitcoms, finding most of them crass and pointless, but About a Boy is so charming! Benjamin Stockham is adorable as Marcus (the titular Boy), and it is so refreshing to watch a series that features a genuinely sweet and innocent kid who, heaven forbid, has a loving relationship with his mother, rather than a bratty, sarcastic preteen or teenager. Marcus is an honest, impressionable, credible child with plenty of appeal, and I look forward to watching him learn and grow in the years to come, while hopefully maintaining that same charming sincerity and sweetness. Minnie Driver is lovely as Fiona, Marcus' well-meaning if somewhat eccentric single mother, and David Walton is wonderful as "boy-next-door" Will Freeman, the charming bachelor neighbor who becomes reluctantly intertwined in Marcus' world, but quickly realizes that he wouldn't have it any other way. This trio has an excellent, authentic chemistry, and I adore the unique family dynamics between them. There is an unspoken sense of "Three against the world" that you can't help but enjoy.

For all the familial love represented, this is not exactly a family-friendly series, sadly, but nevertheless, About a Boy captures a warmth and kindness that one finds in older sitcoms, even a certain innocence. Will takes on an interesting double role as Marcus' carefree best friend and caring father figure, and teaches the boy a thing or two about life. He in turn finds that Marcus has a thing or two to teach him. Will and Fiona's radically different ways of approaching life and child-rearing cause them to butt heads time and again, but their mutual love for Marcus cements the bond between them.

Excellent start. The lead actor and the young boy appear to have good chemistry. I will definitely watch more. I was laughing out loud.

This show is awesome! It makes you laugh, tear up a little, and then laugh again. I have a feeling it will only get better. Please keep it going.

I was pleasantly surprised that a half hour comedy brought some three-dimensional characters and a substantial storyline with it. Usually I watch these shows for the laughs, and this one is pretty funny, but it's also well-written and just dramatic enough to make you look forward to the next part of the story.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Not often do I experience laugh-out-loud moments during New shows, but did so with this show. Witty banter and good acting will have me looking for additional episodes!

The littlest star is a treat. They're all good actors. Yeah that leukemia line was off, it's not a joking matter no matter the context. Just keep the kid a kid, not a wise cracking small adult and I'll be happy.
