Louie has it all. My partner and I stumbled onto the wit and wisdom of Louie C.K. via Jerry Seinfeld. We started watching "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," and one of the episodes featured this droll, deep, angst-ridden middle-aged prophet who immediately captured my notice: his story of running his yacht aground was so well done, so comically creative, that I became an instant fan. Because it's the 21st century, I Googled him. Then I found some of his standup on Netflix (a miracle, since Netflix streaming has a pathetically slim collection of offerings), then started watching his show. Through the miracle of Amazon, we're now up to Season 4, which remains as comically fresh and no-holds-barred as prior seasons were. As far as I'm concerned, Louie C.K. is this generation's George Carlin. Whereas Jerry Seinfeld points out the comic infrastructure of every potential situation, Louie shows us parts of ourselves we'd rather not look at. (Consider Vanessa's speech on fat women.) I'm still not a fan of Louie C.K's vulgarity, but I get that it's part of the package, part of who he is. George Carlin made us blush (and made history) with "the seven words" -- Louie's observations make that bit seem tame by comparison. But that's Louie. Louie is about life. And sometimes life is messy. He makes us laugh about it.

I love this show. I love Louis CK. If every episode was nothing but 21 minutes of him staring at the screen, I would have still considered it money well spent. HOWEVER, I did NOT love the FX ads for every show on FX (apparently) that came at the end and beginning of every episode. I'm personally boycotting Archer and Fargo because I'm so sick of the ads that JUST came along with watching Season 4. I expect ads on YouTube and Hulu. I do NOT expect ads in content that I've paid for and I was not pleased. But...putting that aside...this show is just the best. :)

I'll start off the review by saying that Louie is easily the best sitcom I've ever seen and I bought this season from Instant Video without giving it another thought. On top of paying more than I really should have to, (Seriously, three bucks for twenty minutes of entertainment when I don't get a physical copy) the first thing I was treated to upon starting episode 1 was an ad for Arthur, a totally unrelated show. The inclusion of ads in content that I've already paid for is disgusting. Amazon's double dipping by getting money from both me and FX.

I'm a big fan of Louie CK. The show is not always funny, it's often disturbing, even embarrassing but it approaches truth much more so than most half hour comedies.

I have watched every episode, and yes, this season is certainly different. I still like it, but it's very different. I love Louie, always will. The jury is out on Pamela...really not sure how I feel about her. One minute she is a bit annoying and the next, endearing. Jury is out. The bathtub scene, when all the water spilled, had me in tears. It was just such a REAL moment...so many tv shows and movies make encounters like that look so effortless. They usually aren't in real life. Thank you for keeping it real. :)

Simply the most complex and richly entertaining comedy series ever. Each season has moments of hilarity, coupled with devastating moments of bleak existence. It's an amazing experience to watch each episode and I honestly think it makes me a better person.

Louie seems to be working out a lot of personal stuff in this season. Not as funny, but still satisfying
