I watched season 1 and just enjoyed the show so much. There is some fine acting on the show from all the actors and the story line is very compelling. It is certainly at the top of the list for my must see television. There are times when a show stays with you long after you watch it, because of the components in the show. Rectify is one of those shows. I would strongly recommend the show to anyone wanting to see some fine acting and very good writing.

Simply elegant, eloquent, exquisite.
The most soulful thing I've seen on the big or small screen. Truly.
An astonishing work of beauty.
I am truly in awe of everyone that is involved in this delicate (and heart-wrenching) series.
This is not hyperbole. I actually feel that I don't have the right words to express the way this series affects me.

When people talk about The Best Television Show Ever, The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad and Mad Men are usually the titles being tossed around, and while those are all towering masterworks, it's possible that, very quietly, Rectify has them all beat. This is heart-stopping poetry on film, with the intimate power of a great novel. And literally every performance, from the stars to the day players, is world class. The only problem is having to wait a year for season three!

It's more like a film than a television show. It waits on a scene so long it's almost uncomfortable. It draws you in and breaks your heart. It's just lovely. Another reviewer talked about the mystery that one might think is the impetus of the show but it's not, it's the journey of all these complicated and human characters. Did I mention it's heartbreaking? For anyone who's still reading I'm going to tell you what I look for when I read a review. do we have the same taste? . Favorite movie I've seen recently: bad words.
Fav tv shows: frasier, still makes me laugh out loud, breaking bad, justified, good wife, deadliest catch. It's a beautiful show. And yeah, it's gonna break your heart

Rectify is not your usual dramatic series. It goes places most other drama's wouldn't dare. The acting and the production are first rate.
The actress who plays the main character's sister gives a glowing performance, and the rest of the cast is stellar.

Nuanced, character driven, thoughtful, with scenes of brutality and compassion, this drama quietly pulls you into a world of mystery, heartbreak, strained relationships, familial love and the boundaries of loyalty, religion and community. You will not be disappointed if you like to watch the dynamics of a community grappling with an intractable problem. Who is innocent and who is guilty, and to what extent is everyone culpable when tragedy strikes.

When I watched the first episode of this series, I said, 'now we're getting somewhere in the realm of TV.' I've tried a few series and some are worth the time spent, but nothing comes close to the challenge of engaging this one. It pulls your mind and sense of ethics and your heart in so many directions that one can think about it for days while weighing yourself against the dilemmas of Daniel's character and the responses of those who encounter him; those who have already set their opinions about him in stone, those who are willing to let him emerge and get his bearings, those who are trying to fix him, those who want to save him, and then there is prisoner who lives in the cell next door who depends on him for friendship. It breaks the heart. Most of us, fortunately, don't know what it is like to be released from death row after 19 years and after being incarcerated at the age of 18. We mature as people by being with others and most of what we have learned through education has the structure of some sort of forum. But, Daniel has little or none of these things and what he gains, nevertheless, is nothing short of remarkable and completely unique. If you like to see programs and movies that leave you no room to decide what you, yourself, might think or feel about what you are seeing, this is not for you. Rectify gives you opportunities to consider everything. Some call this slow paced and boring. I call it having respect for the viewer. Rectify is also a visual feast.

This show never ceases to move and challenge me. Episode after episode, it finds moments of true emotional clarity. I am not Daniel Holden, and yet I am him. His family is my family. Those (many) moments of grace that ground the show also elevate it above and beyond anything else currently on air- or rather, in any medium. "Rectify" speaks to me.
