Seabiscuit is one of my favorite movies. What's not to love, horses, Jeff Bridges, Chris Cooper, Tobey Maguire. I was really impressed with the performance of Chris Cooper. He is an often overlooked actor who does incredible work. I always root for the underdog and this one doesn't disappoint. Great movies take you on an emotional ride. This makes you laugh, cry and sit on the edge of your seat with excitement.

I have watched this movie many times. David McCullough is a great historical narrator, the cast is perfectly chosen for their roles and the story of the times is inspirational beyond words.

Great modern remake of the story of the owner, trainer and, of course, Seabiscuit who brought a country hope during bad times.

I had heard that this was an amazing story of hopefulness surrounding the Great Depression. I didn't feel this version captured that at all. It was just a story about horse racing, and about people and horses miraculously recovering. But I got no sense that this particular race was the ting that lifted spirits and the doldrums of the time. It was also a third too long.

Suffice to say, I own it and have seen it dozens of times. I know most of the lines by heart. A great job of transposing a book to a film without losing the sense of storytelling.

We rented this movie for our 4th grader to watch (he was reading WHO WAS SEABISCUIT? for school) on family night. He gives the movie "5 STARS!" A good family movie.
