Reels of new "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" animation discovered, available here and on YouTube

There is one excellent reason that this 40th anniversary (2015) edition of Monty Python and the Holy Grail is worth purchasing. It

When archivists were sifting through everything that they could, looking for material they could add to a special 40th anniversary BluRay, they found additional REELS of animation that Terry Gilliam shot, but which he did not include in the final film. You can see these new animations that were cut from, or never put into, the original film, on this new 2015 BluRay edition.

((( Correction: as Trident Gum pointed out, you can also see these "cut animations" on the previous DVD release: Monty Python and the Holy Grail [Blu-ray], in the featurette "Terry Gilliam Introduces His Lost Animation Reel." )))

Ask yourself this question: If the Monty Python team had originally had a budget of 150 million dollars, what would Holy Grail have looked like. Add these animations back to the original film and you start to get an idea. We might call it a monster-filled spectacle with violent pratfalls. Nonsensical the way any Holy Grail fan would want it. As one fan said, "We wouldn't want it any other way."

I've always loved this movie, and when I saw that they were coming out with the 40th anniversary edition, I had to have it. Blu-Ray really does help this be as clear as possible. I'm not sure if the special features are really worth it, but I don't always really pay attention to these anyway. If you don't already own the movie, this is a good copy to get.
