Book Description

“I want you to be rich in every possible way – material, psychological, spiritual. I want you to live the richest life that has ever been lived on the earth.”--Osho

The Osho Life Essentials series focuses on the most important questions in the life of the individual. Each volume contains timeless and always-contemporary investigations and discussions into questions vital to our personal search for meaning and purpose, focusing on questions specific to our inner life and quality of existence.

Fame, Fortune, and Ambition examines the symptoms and psychology of preoccupations with money and celebrity. Where does greed come from? Do values like competitiveness and ambition have a place in bringing innovation and positive change? Why do celebrities and the wealthy seem to have so much influence in the world? Is it true that money can’t buy happiness? These questions are tackled with a perspective that is thought-provoking, surprising--and particularly relevant to our troubled economic times.

Fame, Fortune, and Ambition includes an original talk by Osho on DVD. This visual component enables the reader to experience the direct wisdom and humor of Osho straight from the source.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-class Self-Realization/Improvement Book June 29, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I've read numerous books on Psychology, Philosophy, Leadership, Self help/development and other all-time best sellers. Somehow, I was not satisfied. Then, I happened to read a couple of books on Osho and it the way he explains essential life lessons is damn good and it's not like superficial crap like most self-help books do. It's a joy to read this book and it opened doors for a world of possibilities. Osho's books are must-read if you are interested in the ultimate knowledge. I'm sure you will agree that this book will bring a very positive perspective about life and will benefit you much. For me, It's been a life changing experience.

I always love osho, his discourses, and now his books. I just love the way he makes you understand things so simply. Without any complications. But his books and discourses should be heard and read not only once but again and again. As coz when u will first read u will understand little coz your mind is more involved then your heart but gradually after understanding osho more n more gradually your heart will start getting more involved then your mind and then u will start understanding a more deeper meaning of the same lines which you already read earlier but at that time u didn't really get it correct but now u find something more in that same line. And this keeps happening every time you re-read with more n more heart until the moment when the mind completely disappears and u will be surprised to reveal that the same book when u read it the first time meant very shallow but now it means a magic it is so much more then what we thought it to be the first time.

I read a lot and switch between fiction, self-help and business. On the self help side, I have now read two of OSHO's books. Besides his, I have read many more from authors like Covey, Deepak and some lesser known ones. I find OSHO to be very controversial on matters of religion and even success and ambition. It first appeared to me that he denounces ambition, and indirectly success, as evils of society. Only after completing the book did I understand the distinction OSHO makes between ambition driven by ego and competition and personal success or achievement at becoming all that we can become. This book is a great one to add to your list as you're studying "the meaning of life" and how you can find try happiness.

More About the Author

Osho, known for his revolutionary contribution to the science of inner transformation, continues to inspire millions of people worldwide in their search to define a new approach to individual spirituality that is self-directed and responsive to the everyday challenges of contemporary life. The Sunday Times of London named him one of the '1,000 Makers of the Twentieth Century,' and novelist Tom Robbins called him 'the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ.' For more information about Osho and his work, please visit osho.com.

Osho's teachings defy categorization, covering everything from the individual quest for meaning to the most urgent social and political issues facing individuals and society today.

His unique "Osho Active Meditations" are designed to first release the accumulated stresses of body and mind, so that it is easier to experience the thought-free and relaxed state of meditation. (Meditation -The First and Last Freedom, by Osho)

About his own work Osho has said that he is helping to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being. He has often characterized this new human being as "Zorba the Buddha" -- capable both of enjoying the earthy pleasures of a Zorba the Greek and the silent serenity of a Gautam Buddha.

Running like a thread through all aspects of Osho's work is a vision that encompasses both the timeless wisdom of the East and the highest potential of Western science and technology.

Osho has been described by the Sunday Times in London as one of the "1000 Makers of the 20th Century" and by American author Tom Robbins as "the most dangerous man since Jesus Christ."
