Great Country Rock Albums

D. Rhoads "Dusty"
The list author says: "The list author says: "I figure that there is a certain period of time in one's life where music (rock music in my case) achieves a certain degree of relevancy, perhaps a major degree of relevancy where the "day-to-day" is measured in no small part by the prevailing music (or groups). I'm not sure when this influence peaks (if it does) but I still have a particular connection with the music of a specific "age" in my life. Case in point: during the period of time between 1965-1975 I was 8 ('65) and 18 ('75). During this period I became quite enamored of what is now called "Classic Rock". The music (groups, albums, events, happenings, etc) during that period was very important to me. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Deep Purple, Cream, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Grateful Dead, Yes, ELP, Black Sabbath, Moody Blues (to name just a few) are always being upgraded in my collection when better (or obscure) recordings become available. It's the current stuff (or trends) I sometimes find myself trading-in or giving away. There is always an exception (Punk which I still enjoy some artists like the Ramones, Dead Milkmen, and Pixies and of course any 60’s 70’s Soul Music (Temptations, 4 Tops, Sly and the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield or just about anyone on Stax). On occasion I will read an article in some periodical about a new upcoming artist comparing that artist to a past artist that I really like. So I will buy the new artist’s music only to come to the realization that I prefer the past artist they are comparing the new artist too! So my question…..is my like for the old days just a nostalgic age thing? Or, is it the music listened to from our mid-teens to mid-twenties really the music that gets "hardwired" into our consciousness? Though I've certainly enjoyed music created after my mid-twenties (through to today actually), I do find myself always returning to what was important THEN. So I guess the question is “How does your age figure into what you really like?”""
