The list author says: "This is a list of things I have personally found helpful in my travels to the edge of the world. It is stuff I don't leave behind when I head out to the wilderness and are the first items I would grab if it was time to roll out in a hurry. Be it for riots, an imminent impending war, or the zombie apocalypse these are items I own that are definitely coming with me. If stored together it could be put on and out the door in minutes. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Stimulate the economy at the same time you do yourself a favor. Note: You'll want to bring a tent and a bag (or hammock) in addition to this list of goodies. Also a first aid kit and some type of projectile arsenal in the largest caliber you can handle. Remember evade when possible and engage only if necessary. Some folks will go for round count over stopping power in this instance. That's cool if it works for you. I've got a nice hidey-hole that's out of the way. I'm strong enough for the extra weight if I have to split. Good luck. Hope this helps!"
"You need some place to put your gear. Large and spacious interior. MOLLE loops will help fasten gear to the exterior of the pack. 3 liter water capacity. I have the BFM 500. Have a Tactical Assault Gear E-tool Molle sheath for my shovel."
"Better than any other can opener EVER MADE. Just plain works. Weighs next to nothing... Kills me that some of these other lists put a giant hand held can opener in their "must have". Makes me wonder if they've ever left suburbia or the mall..."
"For how I use my Surefire (in conjunction with a headlamp) I now prefer the E2D. This version unlike the LX2 comes on bright first then dim. If I do have to pull this out I want it bright right now. For tactical lighting this light it AWESOME and will temporarily blind someone. It's scalloped edge can be used as a blunt defensive object as well."
"At a gallon a day this thing will go for 35 years. Hope I'm dead before this thing dies... I'll be too old to care by then anyway. Can't believe how expensive this thing has gotten. Still ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT."
"Don't get a shiny one. But do get one that is rated for climbing. Don't use the one your keys are on for climbing. But you can keep your keys on this one until you do need to climb. Just don't drop it or it becomes a keychain forever"
"Have this now strapped to the pack. New version is all black. Well made and is very versatile. I like this better than the Fatmax because it is better balanced and is not glow in the dark yellow. A HEAVY duty piece of equipment that include a hammer and pry bar. Also has a bottle opener."
"What other Zippo would you pick for this list? It's pretty nice by the way. The graphic isn't going anywhere. Made well and in America. One of the few things I can think of that this country still manufactures. Getting sparse!!!"
"Well you have to keep all those guns clean in your pack. I believe this kit has brushes from .22 to 12 Gauge. What else will you be carrying? 45 and 308 for me... Break down twenty two rolling in the pack as well."
"I recently used this product and like it better than the CC Observer. The crank is better and so is the sound. You can even hook your IPOD up to it and jam out to your favorite tunes as you watch the sky fall into the sea..."
