Progressive West Virginia

Preston C. Enright
The list author says: "West Virginia's mountains are being devastated by the coal industry's practice of mountaintop removal mining. Hundreds of mountains have been clear cut and blown apart, with the rubble being shovelled into hundreds of miles of streams. This state is under siege by King Coal and the corrupt politicians who serve it.
Yet, West Virginia is also the home of a courageous progressive resistance. Activist groups like Coal River Mountain Watch, and media activists like Bob Kincaid of the Head-On Radio Network, are struggling to preserve what's left of wild and wonderful West Virginia.
My hope is that the readers of this list will inform themselves about the assault on Appalachia, its people, and its way of life.
Here is a list of resources regarding West Virginia's longstanding battle against corporate tyranny, and some of the progressive spirits of that beautiful state."
