The list author says: "This is a list of some of the best books available about diet and what to eat, what to avoid eating and WHY.
Many of these books are excellent choices for healthy people that want to stay well and feel as good as possible as well as ill people. Some of these books are essential reading if you have a neurological disease or any chronic or life-threatening disease.
In a nutshell, eat real food! Avoid trans fats, sugar and vegetable oil as well as highly processed foods and refined carbs. Eat traditional foods such as meats (grass fed and organic if possible), organ meats, cod liver oil, eggs, bone broths, fermented and sprouted foods and a good variety of (cooked or raw)vegetables and a little fruit. Eat good fats and protein until satiety and avoid eating enormously unlimited amounts of carbohydrate.
Knowledge is power. Happy reading!
ps. There are also two more book lists available that I have written: 'Essential Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (and 'CFS') Reading List 2012' and 'Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (and 'CFS') Health Improving Books 2012.'
pps. I have a severe neuro disease called M.E., but am slowly improving month by month (after more than a decade of slow worsening) through dietary, nutritional and detoxification interventions.

"This book is so so good, very highly recommended. It summarises the vast majority of the major points made in all of the books listed below, and is written in a very engaging and easy to read style. This is not just one more Paleo book!"
"An excellent book containing 3 different diet plans. One for weight loss, one to help heal very ill people and one for maintenance and just healthy and enjoyable eating. This book or 'Primal Body' are probably the books I would recommend if you could only buy one book containing practical information about what to eat. They are both very good."
"This book contains lots of recipes to get you started on making your own sauerkraut, yogurt and stock and how to soak and dry your own nuts and seeds and so much more. This is a recipe book, not a textbook."
"An amazing read. Explains why what you eat changes your gene expression and that most diseases are caused by faulty gene expression, NOT permanent genetic changes and that what you eat can affect your family's genes for generations."
"This book is one of the most important health books I have ever read. This book is not a simple book offering practical advice and a diet sheet but a detailed analysis of why low calorie diets don't work."
"Talks about the importance of treating the causes of disease and why healing the gut is an essential first part of any healing program - whether you feel like you have any gut issues or not. Excellent."
"The specific carbohydrate diet can be very helpful if you have poor gut function, as can the GAPS diet. This book tells you how to heal the gut using diet - don't be put off by the word 'psychology' in the title."
"In almost all her excellent books on health Dr Sherry Rogers usually recommends only the macro diet. Finally, in this book Dr Rogers goes into detail about why some of us need to eat good quality meat and eggs, and COOKED vegetables instead of raw ones."
"If you are eating lots of soy, pregnant and eating soy, or you are feeding lots of it to small children or babies, you need to read this book as soon as possible, Soy is not the safe wonder food it has been promoted as."
"This book explains why high carb diets make people miserable and overweight and why the claims that this diet is the best way to manage diabetes and to lose weight just don't add up. A diet where healthy fats and protein are recommended to be eaten until satiety is recommended, along with around 60 grams of unrefined carbs daily."
