Listen To Gary Puckett

Michael King "Mike"
The list author says: "Gary Puckett was born on October 17, 1942, in Hibbing, Minnesota. He left college to join a rock group called the Outcasts. The band included bassist Kerry Chater, keyboardist Gary Withem, saxophonist Dwight Bement, and drummer Paul Wheatbread. CBS producer Jerry Fuller signed the group in 1967, renaming them the Union Gap. Their first single, "Woman, Woman," reached #4 in 1967. It was featured on their 1968 debut album, which was produced by Jerry Fuller. Their second album, produced by Jerry Fuller, was released later in 1968. It featured the #2 hit single "Young Girl," which was written by Jerry Fuller. Incredibly, their third album, entitled "Incredible," was released in late 1968. It was produced by Jerry Fuller, and included the #2 hit "Lady Willpower" (written by Jerry Fuller), and the #7 hit "Over You" (written by Jerry Fuller). Their fourth album was released in 1969, and featured the song "This Girl Is A Woman Now" (#9 in 1969). The hits continued until the single "Let's Give Adam And Eve Another Chance" stalled at #41 in 1970. Kerry Chater and Gary Withem left the band. Dwight Bement assumed bass duties, while keyboardist Barry McCoy and horn player Richard Gabriel were added to the group. The Union Gap remained Gary's live backing band until 1971. Gary released his solo debut album that same year.
