Hello, Bonjour, Konnichi Wa, Hola, Bonjiorno.. blah blah blah. This guide will take you into the realms of the shônen (boys) manga (japanese comics), the ACTION genre. Well, let's get started!
Saiyuki, Vol. 1 Saiyuki- Cool lookin' guys, guns, demons.. What more could you ask for in a manga centered around a group of people trying to save the world? Well, Demons are goin' nutso and it's up to a gun-toting priest and a bunch of others to get rid of 'em. Note- some shonen ai (boys love), hinted incest.
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story, Vol. 1 Rurouni Kenshin, a tale of a wandering samurai with a sad past. The manga series differs from the animated series that passed on adult swim, revealing more of Kenshin's past and introducing some new enemies. I have the entire series, and, aside from some gory moments, love the series.
Naruto, Vol. 1 Naruto- An outcast determined to become a master ninja, a pink haired girl with a crush and a loner team up to compete in a vicious tournament, risking life and limb in this funny, somewhat romantic adventure series. Note- some nudity in the form of metamorphosing boys. That sounded weird...
Shaman King, Vol. 1: A Shaman in Tokyo Shaman King- the story of a boy with a hellish ancestor who's come back after 1000 years to participate in the SHAMAN FIGHT in Tokyo. The winner of his combat becomes Shaman King, the ultimate dream of the shaman's all over the world. The plot of this manga is extremely hard to follow so you'll have to read every manga in order, but other than that its a funny, satisfying manga.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Perfect Collection OK, I cheated- this isn't manga, but this is an incredibly moving and awe inspiring series. I LOVE THIS ANIME. The people who created this are geniuses- an incredibly complex plot and enough gore and robot/"Angel" death to satisfy just about anyone, I recommend it, but be warned- the ending of the series is somewhat boring.
