Many people think that pop/rock music is about dancing around and singing upbeat tunes that will top the charts. But what sets some artists apart is their ability to make a lasting impression. What makes some artsist different from others? After some research and survey taking i have come up with this guide to what's good, bad and just o.k in the world of pop/rock music sung by a female. The results are in.
Please note: I have heard every track on the albums featured in the 'Good' and 'Bad' sections. Therefore my opinions are based on the entire album and not just the hit singles. I am a person who listens to all kinds of music. From Aerosmith to The Corrs. From Greenday to The Beatles. From Creed to Drake Bell. My opinions and results of my research are based on the appeal of the artists music, both musically and lyrically.
This album is amazing. Skye was signed on at the age of fourteen and the album was released when she was sixteen. At such a young age, Skye shows that she has great talent.
In real life, Brie is a random, funloving girl. It shows on her album. The songs are fun and most young teenage girls will be able to identify with them. She wrote these songs when she was 12 and 13 and the album was released when she was 15. So for a pre teen, the songs are surprisingly good.
20 something Courtney Jaye has a soulfull voice and her songs are more folksy than pop. Her music will probably appeal more to older listeners, but some catchy tunes like 'Cant Behave' and 'Mental' will surely appeal to younger listeners as well.
Like Courtney Jaye, KT Tunstall will probably appeal to older listeners. However her music has a certain unearthly quality to it. It's haunting and will draw you in. Undoubtedly a good buy.
Ok, i know what you're thinking. But in my opinion, people who trash her dont know what they are talking about. Have you heard every track on this CD like i have? Please do. You'll find some really nice one's like 'Someone's Watching Over Me', 'Fly' and 'Jericho'. Hilary may not have the worlds best voice, but she doesnt have to. This album shows that she's just a girl trying to make it in the world. What is so wrong with that? I dont get why people hate her. Really.
Again. See above. Listen to every song on the album before you trash her. I am not even an Ashlee Simpson fan. I didnt like her first album 'Autobiography' so much. But then this album came out and i thought "Oh what the heck". So i bought it. And i wasnt disappointed. She has composed most (all?) of the tracks on this album and the songs are really catchy. And all those who still hate her for the lip syncing accident on SNL, please listen to 'Catch Me When I Fall'.
Ok so they're disney girls. So what? I repeat - So. What. If you listen to their music, you'll see that they are so much more than disney girls. They're both very young (17 and 15 respectively) and they've written and composed 12 songs on their debut album. They play guitar, the sing well and their album has done amazingly well. What does that tell you? That they'e successful because they're bad? Puh-leeze. They've got millions of fans because they are good. If you dont like them...get over it.
Twins have never been cooler. And when i say that Jess and Lisa Origliasso can rock, i mean that they can ROCK! Australia should be proud of these 22 year old guitar playing twins - their music is on fire!
I like Lindsay as an actress. As a singer, her voice is pretty good, but her songs are all rubbish. They're not catchy, they're not fun and all in all, they're quite wannabe.
Alright her songs are catchy. But they have no MEANING! and Rihanna doesnt show any emotion in her voice - or in that case in her eyes while she performing or in the music video's.
I heard about this album at about the same time i heard about Courtney Jaye's. I got both albums. I was very disappointed with this one. Very very very.
This album is just alright. Too many cover's. Plus i dont really like Nikki because she BLATANTLY lip synced when she performed on Nickelodeon's All That. It was so stupid.
This album has some good songs, but Raven isnt quite upto the mark yet. She shows that she has alot of potential, but she isnt quite all that good yet.
A great effort by a young girl. Jojo has an amazing voice. The songs are just alright though. But i'm sure her next album will take the world by storm.
