So I'm enjoying my Gilmore Girls Season 1 DVD Gilmore Girls - The Complete First Season when I notice that Rory tends to read a lot of really good books. Here are the ones that I could recognize - there are lots of others but I couldn't make them out in my little tv.1. Moby-Dick (Bantam Classics) and Madame Bovary (Bantam Classics). The first time Dean talks to Rory, she says she was reading Madame Bovary before and she's now reading her first Melville, Moby Dick.2. A Mencken Chrestomathy: His Own Selection of His Choicest Writing . The book that Richard Gilmore gets for Rory, after their golf outing.3. The Group . Rory is reading this while she's waiting to buy tickets to the formal, and Tristan interrupts her.4. The Portable Dorothy Parker (Viking Portable Library) . The book Rory brings to the dance, and Dean reads from it later on.5. The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath . I'm forgetting exactly when she was reading this, but I think she was sitting on a park bench when she's reading it. At one point she's reading something by Virginia Woolf on the bus and Dean gets on, but I couldn't make out the title. And when she goes to Madeline's party, she brings a book along but for the life of me I have no idea what it was. Does anyone else know what that book was? |
